turbocharging

Featured Replies

I am turbocharging my 280zx. Iwas wondering if the exhaust manifold will bolt to my head and will injectors from a turbo engine fit and are they any larger than n/a injector

to anybody who responds Thank you for your help.

Don't take this as gospel but, logic says yes the exhuast manifold will bolt up to the head and yes the injectors will fit. Also, it's more than likely the turbo injectors are bigger than the std EFI. Remember, this is not based on my experience. I have SU's. I'm sure you will get more responces to your post.

You will have to swap an entire turbo engine in from the 280zx turbo (L28et) to do this resonably.

You would be much better off switching engines and harnesses and the computer and fuel pump and the other associated things, then trying to turbo your N/A motor.

I agree with Zmefly, if you don't want to get into your engine, then put the whole turbo engine in your car. Everything will fit, and the factory, Chiltons, or Haynes engine trouble shooting will still apply! I have an '82 turbo engine running on the ECM and wiring from a '77 it runs well NOW! Save your time and energy for driving, move the whole thing, engine, ecm and harness!

I've thought of doing that to my 810 daily driver. Imagine what a 'sleeper' it would be!

Talk about a crank-yanker-you would be spankin' the ricers for sure! Kind of a neat and fun thing to have a wolf in sheeps clothing!

That dyno slip...that "Baseline 240z" didn't mean STOCK except that motor, did it???

You could get those numbers with a STOCK bottom end.

But, you will need more fuel, AFPR, bigger injectors, bigger turbo, good ic, 60mm tb, and I would suggest at least the Z31 ecu maf swap.
