I'm currently working on a '76 280z (also my first car!) and as I was removing a two bolts holding a piece onto the intake manifold, the heads of the bolts snapped right off. There is still a portion of one of the bolts left sticking up, the other is a receded within the manifold. So my question is: How can I get these bolts out of there? I know one way would be to drill the bolts out and tap the holes for new threads.. Might there possibly be another way?? Any advice is greatly appreciated! -John

My brother and I are running into a little problem in restoring a 71 240Z. The car is guzzling gas, and we seem to have tracked the issue down to this seemingly faulty part (see pics). Trouble is, we can't find this part anywhere! And we don't really know the official name, so searching for it is tough. Can anyone help identify this part, or even shed some light on where to find it? Details: it's part of the fuel system, seems to be a check valve of some sort. There are two of these in the engine, one of which works (and the car runs, but guzzles gas, presumably due to this broken thing). Thanks in advance! dave

I have a very original York AC set up that was installed by Datsun dealer back then on one of my 71 car. Now the pully bearing is making a loud nose, but I do not know how to replace this baering or the pully. I can't press it out because there is metal cover over it........ There is no retainer or anything. I do not care about its originality on this at all, but I would appreciate your help here..... The bearing is made bu Nachi(Japanese one). I am hoping that there is a replacement for this......... Esprist www.jdm-car-parts

Hello all So this past weekend I pulled the old radiator and hoses. I took the car for a ride today only to hear a loud whining noise coming when accelerating. I come to my house to find radiator fluid dripping from the front of the engine...from the water pump. So I'm guessing a new water pump is in order.... Two questions. One. Does everything on Z's happen in the cascading manner in which things break in bunches that are related (i.e thermostat, then radiator and now the blasted water pump.) Secondly. What are you guys recommendation on water pumps. Is autozone ok or should I use MSA? Any advise would be welcome. Jan

Hello all Today I took the Z out for a short ride around town to get some things. Stopped at the local store to find that my car was low on coolant. Picked up a bottle of coolant and topped of the tank. While under there I noticed that the oil pan is leaking a fairly large amount of oil. Also noticed my tranny mount is going bad fairly quickly. (that was from driving) 1. Is there a way to replace the oil pan gasket without having to lift the engine or drop the cross member? 2. Has anyone replace a tranny mount that have pictures. I've been under the car I just need advise on where to start. Jan

Hi everyone, I haven't been here in quite a while...Life takes us in different paths now and then. I bought/found a really clean 71 240z back in 2001... I enjoyed bringing it back to life and driving and showing the Z... It was taken off the road to have some mechanical items looked after and a new paint job done.. Well that's now over 2yrs... While sitting at the shop the battery acid took its toll ... my battery tray is eaten, the pristine floors and frame rails as well:cry:: disappointed... I need the right frame rail (MotorSport sells in pairs) the battery tray.. as well... my body guy says if I can get the clip from the fire wall to under the strut it will wo…

Hello guys So Friday afternoon I replaced my old broken radiator with a brand new one. Saturday morning I finished up the job by replacing the radiator cap with a new one, replacing the hoses and filling the car up with some fluid. I started the car up to let the fluid circulate and get the air out and I find that I have a very faint amount of white smoke coming out of the exhaust. When I rev it gets worse and when I rev and release the throttle it puffs it out. So being mechanically I turn the car off after it heats up and check the oil. Its oil, nice oil color and tastes like oil (yes I tasted it to verify there was no coolant). Checked under that cap, nothing just oil…
