1. View Advert Emissions air hoses wanted for 240Z For a 240Z I need the 2 long air hoses that connect 1) from the back of the air filter housing to the emissions air pump, and 2) from the emissions air pump to the emissions devices that are mounted on the top of the engine. I do not need the very short emissions hoses that go on top of the engine. The hoses I need are numbers 9 and 10 in the attached diagram. Text me at 250-734-3811. Photo appreciated. 2. I recently pulled the fuel tank out of my 1975 280Z to have it cleaned and so I could work on reducing the smell of gas in the cabin. I'd love to replace the 17mm (5/8") vent hose that connects from the tank to the vapor reservoir and the 17mm hose that connects the filler to the vapor reservoir, but I can't seem to find these parts. I question whether or not the existing hoses are presenting much of a barrier to gas vapors. Anyway, I was thinking about replacing them with 5/8" fuel hose; however, the hose wants to kink when bent in a fashion similar to the old hoses. Is there still a source for replacement hoses, or a good solution to using the hoses that are readily available from the auto parts stores? I have another fuel system parts question. Has anyone seen a source for obtaining a new grommet in the plate that screws into the body? Once again, this is for a 1975 Z. Thanks!
3. Okay, I just boughat my first Z earlier today. My father owned the same 79 280zx model back when I was a kid and Damn it was awesome. I want to rebuild what he had and restore this one to its full potential but I just can't catch a glimpse of that happening. I've been battling with it since I got it home (I drove it 40 some miles with no more than some minor bumping in the front left tin rod and high revs in neutral and between shifts). I go to inspect my prize and I see chaos. The tube behind the mass air flow module (or what I believe to be) had been wrapped several times with electrical tape. Turns out it had a massive tear. Then I got it going again to test the high revs and it started going up and down between 2 and 3k rpms like it was galloping. Soon after it stalled. I was told it had a leaky exhaust manifold seal but this was not something I know to become of that. I started it back up and it launched the alternator belt clean off. I put it back on after turning the car off and it hasn't stayet running since. I tried puting it on both pulleys coming from the block but neither seems to make a difference. It'll run for five or six minutes and die a slow startling jumpy death. What all am I dealing with here!?!? Have I just thrown 2 grand away??
4. I'm in need of some help, I've never owned a 240z before or any of the other models, quite honestly I'm pretty new to cars in general (anything that inst a classic VW). I have recently found a 1972 240z which I have all intentions in buying, it has some problems and needs some work. I've got the a few of the things it needs pined down (gas pump + carb rebuild) but I'm lost when it comes the the hoses, I want to get an idea of how much its gonna cost before I make the purchase. If you guys could help me with a list of all the necessary hoses (not including the ones for the heater) it would be really quite helpful.
5. Hi, so I am in the process of converting my car from flattop to roundtop carbs. I have the intake manifold, balance tube, and carbs for both setups. The engine is an L28 that came with flattop carbs on it and a mess of hoses and wires. I need help identifying hoses and figuring out what I don't need, etc. I have removed the flattops and their balance tube, then bolted on the balance tube for the roundtops to notice that there's no spots for some of the hoses that are there. I have pictures attached. The next thing I noticed is the roundtops won't fit on the manifold and need the larger bolts of the manifold that came with them, so does this mean they won't work on the n33 manifold? Next, there's no spot for the coolant hose, does this mean the roundtops don't need coolant, and if so, how would I remove this hose and block it? As you can tell I am pretty clueless but thanks for all the help!
