  2. Good qustion - there are two thoroughly restored 2+2s in the group - they look as new (why they did 2+2s I don't know!)
  3. Look forward to seeing that yellow machine. How's the engine work going?

  5. Guys, Last sunday in Perth (Australia) a number of people turned up for the monthly W.A.Z-car register monthly meeting. Mr. Camoflage took some shots and has put them up on: http://www.wazcars.com/images/feb2004/ Enjoy - hopefully a few more Perth-ites will turn up in March:classic: Hayden.
  6. Store your matching number L24 and put in the L28. If your stored engine is in good nick you can expect it to be in similar good condition when you reawaken it, provided you store it sensibly... Make sure you oil up the combustion chambers and the engine has a fresh oil change before storage. Turn the engine over by hand every 6 months to a year to rewipe the bores with oil. Obviously store it in a damp-free environment and under a cover. When reviving it, turn it over first by hand and then crank it without the ignigion connected to get the oil system flowing. When running, warm it up and change the oil and filter immediately. On an originality note: it took me a long time to find a car that was about 90% original (stereo, wheels and seat covers are the offending items) and as time goes on it will only become harder. Do everything you can to keep your car original but don't sacrifice the fun factor! I would not advocate overboring your original L24 to make an "L28"... what happens when it needs reboring again and you've taken the block out as far as it can go??
  7. I don't care what number it is... for $15k I expect a car with its original running gear... that advertisement says "Butchered early car" to me
  8. Lee - Congratulations! Its great to see your car at last, especially since its a Perth car! You should bring it along to the next W.A.Zed car meeting at Rosie O'Grady's in South Perth. The gatherings are on the last Sunday of each month - there was one today! Did you have the engine bay repainted too? I only ask because the paintwork seems to fresh and bright that you kind of notice that the engine is a bit drab in comparison (SORRY!)... Where are you getting your carpets done? Congrats again! Hayden.

  15. Okeley Dokely then... the Rear tail light or indicator appears to have a faired-in nacelle which does not appear on the 2000. Take a close look at Alan's pics earlier in the thread and you'll see a navy-blue tail-end infront of the white ragtop which has the same feature. Maybe Alan was racing against a 2300GT without knowing it..

Sounds like the very questionable 'facts' being pedalled by Mr. Heston and the US gun lobby. True there has been a massive effort to buy back high powered and automatic weapons by the govt in Australia but there has to my knowledge been no corresponding surge in crime. However, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that the sort of people who commit firearm-related offences are (a) unlikely to voluntarily hand in their illegal weapons and ( have the underworld contacts to easily obtain more. I imagine this is true the world over...

No, but plans have been drawn up...
  20. While I was searching for my Z I must have spoken to over a dozen sellers who advertised using the term "original" or "all original" (and many more who didn't). My first three questions to these people always eliminated 99% or the cars advertised. The questions are: 1. Does the car have its original engine and transmission? 2. Is the car still painted in its original factory colour? 3. Does the car have its original interior fittings (seat covers, radio, vinyl trim)? Most often, the 'original 240z' would turn out to have been repainted in a non-original colour, have an L28 engine fitted and have been retrimmed in a non-original matrial/colour in the cabin. Someone advertising a car as "all original" really should be able to answer my 3 questions with a yes. However, a buyer should also ask these three questions no matter how the car is advertised...if originality is important to them, that is. (PS, I eventually compromised on the interior trim...my car has non-orig seat covers and radio...both about to be changed!)
