  1. I know this is chevy question but i really want to know since i plan on droppping it in my 73 z in about a month or so. Ok last year my dad and i put a 327 together. but we went back with a 350 crank. we used the old 327 rods. it worked out good and it runs great. my ? is whats the displacement. some people say it is a stroker or a destroker. but i think it is a 350 now. arent the rods the same lenght(327/350) . BTW the bore is the standard 4.0. I hope someone knows more than me but thats the easy part. thanks. OUT
  2. Hey thanks for the info ill put more later. got to go to work. thanks
  3. well i jut got a new camera adn was ithching to take some pics and it is dark but oh well. i guess i have to wait for approval? not a prob just wanted a little info. i m still new and i prolly am missing something. well when they get up feel free to take a peak at my baby. thanks
  4. one suggestion is to make sure you can turn the engine over with no prob. se if it has any coolant. if it is too good to be true it probably is. that is all i got.good luck.
  5. ok first off, im an idiot. now with that out of the way here is what i found. on the right side of my engine block where the two flat spots are i found L24 082194. on the right strut tower stamped on the Data Plate above the CAR NO. is the Engine NO. (exactly where you said it was Carl) L24-187695. on the drivers door jam is another Data Plate with the the date of manufacture 7/73. so now i can plainly see(since is daytime) that the two numbers dont match. oh well at least i know, right? THANKS for the help and everything!!!!! PS. i will try to get some pics. but i am slow when it comes to all that high speed stuff like computers.
  6. 082194 Are The Numbers On The Block. Hls30-171743 Are On The Vin. I Wil Research. The Guy I Bought It From Was Kinda Shady. Dont Get Me Wrong It Is A Good Car But I Thoought It Was Original. Guess Not Right. So Where Do I Go From Here. Jtr. Maybe I Should Forget The Past And Move On To More Cubic Inches
  7. Sorry About No Research I Looked At My #s And Of Coarse They Dont Match I Guess It Is Time For V-8
  8. is it on the right side right above the starter
  9. is that all. i mean what about the tranny? any thing else
  10. where do i look for the infamous matching numbers on my 73 240z
  11. i bent valve in achevy 350 one time. I t made a loud hissing niose, and had no compression on that cylinder. It also produced alot of gasses coming from the valve cover( leaking around my valve) Your problem reminds me of the time a i dropped a washer in my intake and somehow managed to work its way in my clyinder. It sounded like it had a knock. But i got lucky and found which cylinder it was, took the sparkplug out and watever was left of that washer blew out when i started it up.(chevy 305) Chevy sucks thats why i drive a Z. HAd good luck with my 2.4 so far. You could have broken a valve and it is flying arond on top of your piston. kinda unlikely, though something is floating around in there. Compression test are always a good idea.
  12. my rake booster was leaking only when i pushed on the brake. it as sucking air and getting to lean. possibility?

you have to strike the arc and then pull it away one eighth onf an inche from the surface. this will allow you to move in little cicles. its got to be clean.
  15. sounds like it is running too lean. Right? /drew/
  16. my 73 did the same thing and i adjusted the choke cables. only one carb was getting choked. still hangs up now and then.

  21. yesterday morning a got in mt car to go to work. It is very cold natured( probably due to thirty-two year old su's)and i was running late. i hopped in my wifes car and went to work. she called me later to tell me my car ran into my neighbors house. Ouch. i think my ebrake gave out or maybe i forgot to set it, cant remember, too early. anyway it dented my rear quarter all the way to the finderwell. it still drives good and not out of allignment but it is pretty bad. how should i fix it? is it hard to replace the whole Quarter pannel?any advice is welcome. THNAKS
