ok, this is really intriguing, so i spent some time examining the pictures of ray's car from lachlan's collection, pics of before, during and after the white paintwork and rb20de build here's some of what i've discovered: the green painted (original colour?) firewall vin # pic appears with the group of photos, but there is not another shot or angle of the vin there's a pic of the instrument cluster, and the entire thing appears to have been spray painted silver there are no telltale signs of gt-r "spartan" bits (or any jdm bits for that mattrer) the wheel flares are not the typical gt-r style but seem to be flexible and are mounted a bit lower on the body, and (now this is important) the car was originally flare-less a pic of the rear disc brakes shows only a rotor hanging on the axle with the drum removed, and the caliper sitting on top and the hydraulic line twisted backwards

hmm, maybee i'm hallucinating after alan's retort, but don't the first two digits of the firewall vin look tampered with?

i wonder if they are the same outfit that sells on fleabay? anyway, i'm in the process of ripping out that carpet kit; it's really the worst i've ever seen, and it's only a year old

i think you need the mega bubble flares for those to fit, but you could always run extreme stretched tires (ricer look ala --enigma--) tell us about the group buy

i used a small moto-tool with a cutting blade to cut a screwdriver slot on the stud to keep it from turning

brian, is it true you're selling the "nagoya police ht" and buying the qld rb20 machine?
  12. there was a guy in perth breaking a kenmeri ht. do you recall? anyway, he seems to have disappeared after making promises to deliver:mad:
  13. i'm not going to put the old cassette player back in my console, so if any aussie has an upper radio blockoff plate they wouldn't mind selling and shipping, please pm me:bunny:

dunno, but i seem to recall that brian was considering importing more than one car
  15. uh, i didn't see the thread until 7 months afterwards. just like i didn't see the new responses until now i know your retort got "chris" rolling on the floor, but it really doesn't answer my comment. i was referring to the fact that there were a bunch of doubters during the period of discussion. just because the doubters had not commented in 7 months does not mean they are "satisfied." they are still haters anyways, you are not one of the doubters, so i have no idea why you need to water them down into the "everyone" category

    Unusual Kenmeri QLD
  17. i finally got sick of my faux wood contact paper dash so am in the middle of peeling it off very time consuming i'm using a small, flathead screwdriver to cut through and lift up the faux wood, then i scrape up the excess adhesive and clean it off with goo remover anyway, seeing the brushed aluminum dash kits on fleabay gave me the idea to search for the stuff in bulk sheets here it is available online: alsacorp just cut to fit, remove the backing and apply similar stuff is said to be available at certain home improvement stores, so i'll check that out as well either way, i'll post a reply when mine is done
  18. funny because =enigma= sounds like a ricer name we need our own forum mikey
  19. i know most of you are either in shock or doubting thomases, but the fact remains that my source confirms at least 80% of the cars in the nis-san heritage ware-house have been crushed my source has a working relationship with nis-san and prefers to remain anonymous. if that prevents you from believing what has transpired, so be it nis-san initially didn't want to take any cars, but changed it's mind apparently and brought 1/2 dozen or so with it to ten-nessee the remaining "important" cars were donated to museums or sold to private parties makes no difference to me whether you believe it or not, but just because another members says it isn't so, doesn't make it not true the ware-house was not open to the public, so photos and documentation of the collection were precious few, but again, i challenge a respected member of this forum to inventory those cars and prove where they are presently located i'd like to know which actually survived besides the few we already know about oh, and should've initially clarified that the not all the cars featured in the "dream car ga-rage" ad campaign belonged to nis-san, for instance mr. k's yellow 240z
  20. as most of you know, following ghosn's mandate, nis-san u-sa moved it's head-quarters from so-cal to ten-nessee last year well, the thought never occurred to me until now, but i asked one of my contacts what was going to happen to the famed "dream car ga-rage" the "dream car ga-rage" was nis-san usa's museum collection of low mileage datsuns and nis-sans as well as historic race cars based in a warehouse near it's gar-dena, california headquarters click on pic for more info from datsun.org: well, my question came too late because in it's hurry to meet re-nault's deadline to pack up all their stuff for the move, somebody on top ordered all the collection to be crushed THAT'S RIGHT ... CRUSHED!!! by hook or crook, some of the cars were saved, for example, the b-re 5-10 #46 was shipped to nis-mo in japan a more respected member of this forum should of course, attempt to confirm this
  21. you so right. people of from all walks of life are curious about this car once, i pulled into a gas station, and was suprised to hear some guy lecturing another motorist about my car

the oem style springs and shocks are not the same, but the coil overs may be interchangeable thanks to the adjustability

kent, is going to be a dedicated track car? the reason i ask is that the absence of a b pillar may be the weak link in chassis rigidity. perhaps the cage will compensate to a degree, but there's going to be some twist depending on how much you thrash it
  24. an email i got from a socal dat buddy: Dude. I was driving home at about 8 pm when I saw this curious and cool tail lights ahead of me. I was driving my Suzuki. The tailights looked awesome ( got to get a set for my future 140Z) so I tried to get close. Heavy traffic on a two lane street. I got side by side..it was a LHD Skyline like yours, silver in color with overfender flares (black) and wide tires, like the skylines of the past.I was side by side, and it was a LHD one. Paint job looked immaculate. i'm thinking it's the silver one on fleabay, and my buddy mistakenly thought it was lhd
  25. congrats on the sale ... can't wait to see it in front of the burj-al-arab
