  1. Hi i was wondering how I could manage making a 240z door fit onto a 280z body... I just purchased a 1976 280z and the doors are rotted completely. I have a 72 parts car with really nice doors, is there any way i could make the doors fit onto the 280? I am missing the C locking device on the body side to the 240 doors, but is there anyway to rig up sumthin even since im missing that part? i dont have the car just yet and havent gotten a thurough look at the 280z, but i do kno the doors need replacing =) Maybe someone has done this before? Any help is greatly appreciated! I looked at previous threads and i know they arent an exact match. EDIT: damnit... posted this under the wrong topic.. my bad... was suppose to be under parts swapping
  2. couple questions though... To treat the shell area underneath the fenders what should i do? clean it and prime it? or is there some stuff that is better. And with new OEM fenders should i prime them aswell? they came a solid black. just a few things i wasnt sure on. Thanks for the help.
  3. well my hatch glass broke, and i just through a tarp underneath it and kicked it all into the tarp... dragged it over to the trashbin and dumped the tarp in it, shaked it and i didnt ever ruin the tarp! dont use trashbags... they rip to easily. If you have an old ratty tarp use it... sorry to hear about the windshield.. i did the same damn thing trying to get my hatch glass out
  4. hahahah thanks... ill get some pics asap... im picking it up friday cant wait...
  5. dont worry i will post some pics if i can figure out how... ... anyways i believe they will fit ( i looked at the hinges and locking mechanisms). If they dont thats why they made welders and sheet metal I just cant believe i found a california Z in massachusetts for so cheap in a few towns over... Im just amazed
  6. well i went Z shopping today and my luck was great. Im sure just about everyone here knows about my former Z which turned out to be a rust bucket. Well anyways im searching through some local ads and i find a 1976 280z in a few towns over. So i call the guy and i go down there to check it out today. I looked it over and couldnt find much wrong with it besides the obvious floor pans. Its a total project car that the resto was started on but never finished, and damn was this thing clean. It had brand new OEM fenders (not even screwed on yet). So i take them off to get a good look at the shell and it seems solid as a rock except a little rot spot near the very front end of it that is ready for a spot weld. Im lookin at data plates and stuff just to make sure its the right year and everything matches and blah blah and the thing turns out to be a california car! jeez my luck just keeps gettin better. So about a half an hour of checkin out the car and all that good stuff ( it needs a rear suspension rebuild, new tires, it has awesome racing rims, quarter pan work, and door work but i have perfect doors on my 240) We talk for awhile and I ask the guy the price and it turns out to only be $600!!! Then the story ends with me puttin a down payment on it and im pickin it up this weekend.. yay!
  7. how much did that cost? im interested =P
  8. how much do stock mags (in nice condition but dirty) go for?
  9. i could sell you original brakes from a 72 240z and rotors. The only one that needs to be fixed is the right rear wheel cylinder... it needs replacing ( damn bleed screw broke) The rotors are rusty but they dont have much wear considering the car only had 33.5k miles on it. Just figured i would offer incase you want them.. If not good luck!
  10. just look at the color of the guys triumph... hes obviously mentally ill
  11. If you need help finding parts when you start restoring your 240z. Im partsin out a 1972 240z and most of the parts are in nice shape, so if your looking for something ask me or if i cant help the people here most definantly could. You joined the right site to restore a Z, I didnt know anywhere near as much as i did till i registered. Anyways have fun and good luck finding one!
  12. Im not a big fan of 2+2 Z's... they should have atleast made it a coupe for my liking anyways=P As far as the Crazy arse Saleen he drove... it was a Saleen S7 ( what I believe to be Saleens version of the Mclaren f1, just like the saleen mustang) Anyways i refuse to watch the fast and the furious because they destroyed that AMAZING charger and i cry everytime i see it... it disgusts me. And in the damn movie the next karate kid they blow up a freakin olds 442... Y just give the damn things to me!!!

Hi, i recently bought a 1972 240z however the resto project turned out terrible... the car ended up being a rust bucket. I was searching local ads and found a 1976 Datsun 280zx coupe. Its a project car, and i was wondering if there is anything i should pay attention to other than the obvious rotted floor pans, and frame rails before i purchase it. Also i havent seen anyone with a 76 280zx only 81 and on. Is there such a thing? Im only familiar with 240's. If anyone has a couple pics of a 76 280zx i would like to see em aswell
  16. sorry for the spam just tryin to keep this on the front page because EVERYTHING has to go!!!
  17. just a couple more things to add to my post. I have a brand new thrush muffler that i just bought.. for my 240z. I will be selling that for $30 and i have the rest of the exhaust aswell if you would like it ( its in nice condition) I really need to get some of the parts outa here so once again IF you need ANY part for a 240Z then please send me a private message or contact me by email at Buzz525@aol.com. Everythings gotta go, and go soon!
  18. the cars totally stock. Ive got a new ignition coil if you want to buy that aswell.. i can take out ALL the wiring for the car. how much would u pay for this because its a hell of alota work considering the car isnt totally apart. Do you need all the wires in the dash too? some of the wires are cut towards the blinkers and are old and fragile
  19. umm describe exactly what you need.. It should be fine the car ran perfect before I took it apart. ( in other words im not excatly sure what consists in the wiring harness =P)
  20. ok im makin progress with this whole parts bit. but it needs to go... If anyone needs ANYTHING off a 240z just ask me. this is a 95% complete car with everything good but the fenders and unibody
