  1. Hi i was wondering what would be the cheapest, easiest way to make a rotisserie or if anyone has one located near massachusetts (yah right) that they are willing to get rid of. I would love to have one because i want to restore my 280z properly and with some ease. Im sure i could just make one with some time but maybe one of you has a superb way of doing it :lick:

thanks for the response ed. I did the tune up and all that good stuff but the engine is coming out anyways ( im doing a frame up resto). Ill look into it, but i did run into one problem. The heat shield that mounts to the exhaust mainfold is blocking some bolts and nuts to remove the manifold, anyone have a trick to get that thing outa the way? i can barely fit my hands in there to find where the bolt is... kinda irritating. Anyways im not to worried a bout a few HP, in all honesty i think the l28 lost some of its Zip ( i dont believe those 150k miles were easy miles). Maybe i could just sell the L24 and tranny, buy a 5 speed tranny( or get one from the boneyard) and put the money into the L28. Couple ways i could go just lookin for some input.
  6. looks great, and nice Z man!

Hi i have a 1972 240z parts car, but the engine only has 50k miles on it, and the car im restoring (1976 280z) has 150K miles on it. The L28 engine didnt run to great when it was assembled, but the L24 was fine. If i were to put the L24 in the 280 what would be my losses and gains? Would i still be able to use the fuel injection system on the L24 or are SU's better? ( i dont mind adjusting and tunning them). And could i also swap the tranny too? Just wondering if everything is compatible.
  8. My 72 was never in an accident but was rusted out beyond repair and cost me $1000. Yet your car was in an accident but can be repaired and it cost you nothing... Why does god hate me...

WOW... how do you manage that
  10. mimregi is right. I have been riding dirtbikes and stuff for a long time now and i will admit, the second i stepped into manual car i could shift perfectly. It takes some practice but you will eventually get it, and Z's arent the easiest of cars to learn on. Good luck, and remember one thing... have fun!

i just bought a 1976 280z from cali... in the next town over... so im set!
  12. its all fixed... YAY... turned out to be the clutch master cylinder... it was shot. Anyways, everything is great with it now... starting to do some body work, and i took it for its first run today! :classic:
  13. everything is great, just it wont work, and yes im using brake fluid =P ill keep workin on it... time is one thing i do have
  14. Hello, Ive been working on my 280z for awhile now, i have it running, stopping but not driving! all because of the clutch. The clutch slave cylinder was toast so i replaced it, the master cylinder is fine, so i bled the system, and re bled it, and again... and one more time! I cant seem to find any pressure, and if i remove the bleed screw oil streams out. Perhaps someone could help me here? im lost, i dont know why its being so darn stubborn.

  16. gotta go buy a battery for my camera and then ill post em... proly tonight or tomorrow. I just got it stopping and running smooth, now i gotta bleed the clutch and ill be flying!
  17. i havent bothered to look yet but i will... im removing the whole exhaust and putting on my new one today... the old one has a couple holes =P
  18. Well i picked up my 1976 280z today. It was a former california car, but somehow ended up in massachusetts! After a short tow home i started to clean out the interior and find out what needs to be done and all that good stuff! Heres the list : paint, POR-15, Minor quarter pan and floor pan patches, door swap from my other parts car, weather stripping from my parts car, Some assembly of the front end, new gas, brakes need to be bled, clutch needs to be blead and thats it! Once i accomplish all these i will have a very sturdy, safe Z. Not to mention i got it running today.. Heh this damn thing souds like a ferarri! Im SO excited and ill be posting pics ASAP!Ohh and it came with brand spankin new OEM fenders. The car and everything cost me $600, id have to say thats a deal of a life time...
  19. Welcome to the site and good luck with your Z's! Everyone here is very helpful and if you have any questions ask and im sure they we'll have an answer!
  20. seafoam = the best in my opinion.
  21. Heh i paid $1000 for a 240z that looked good in person and in pics, however i stripped it down only to find out the unibody was shot beyond repair, and the rails were gone aswell. Whats funny is it ran and drove and best of all stopped =P Ive come to realize that the more expensive the resto car is, the worse condition its in ( just from experience) now im buying a 76 280z for $600 and its solid as a rock AND its from california ( very rare to find in massachusetts =P) anyways.. if i were you i would not buy a car that you havent looked at yourself or havent had someone from here take a peak at it. You can never really tell the extent of the rust and rot unless you look at it yourself. Try searching around alot and it may take some time ( if you havent already), sometimes its best to wait and spend your money on something closer. For $1500-$2000 you could get a solid Z much closer to you.
  22. congrats man! i cant wait til that moment
  23. thanks a bunch man. Any idea where i could obtain POR-15? i hear about it everywhere here but havent been able to locate it. So pretty much clean off all the rust and coat it with POR-15 and i should be good?
  24. well i was reading my manual the other day and it said not to use 30W oil in the SU's ( it said it SPECIFICALLY). maybe thats the problem? kinda doubting it though...
  25. k thanks a bunch. Just making sure because i wouldnt be a very happpy camper if they werent compatible :lick:
