I think for a reasonable price I'd take it provided I had the cash. I would make it my daily driver and put the mesh grille in and change over to Tripples. The 4 seats are great for mates and I don't mind the bright yellow change those mirrors for the bullet style and I think it would be a great car. Wonder if the owner is neg. and willing to wait a couple of months????:classic: oh and I'd loose the rear wing .

Everytime I see posts like this I wanna modify my Z to go even faster . www.darius240z.com he seems a thrill seeker with his motorbike stunts. I like the car personally it's pretty clean . but there are alot of butchered Z's out there this isn't so bad.

@ beandip yeah it shouldn't vary much not sure on the exact temp but generally the Z shouldn't go far past halfway if at all. Hope that helps:classic:

in Australia they stayed the same thru all S30 years till S130.

Only thing I can think of for early Z's around the front bumper is that the headlight buckets(I call them SugarScoops) were made from fibreglass not steel like the later Z's. In terms of bumpers they had skinny bumpers for US models and anything else like the overiders etc.. were optional as far as I know

Ouch did he have the number of the rear ender offender? :stupid: . $1600 that could do alot for a Z.

Are you refering to the cover for the spare tyre? It's tehre to stop the carpet sinking when you put stuff in the boot and gives it a firmer finish I guess. Should just lift out no problem

Yeah if Zkid is right it just pops off but it might break the little plastic clips, they never designed those interior pieces to come out nicely they always break on me . Otherwise I'm not sure what your talking about can u attach a picture? I had a look at your project don't be put off by the comments I made on the photo's I'm mearly stating that I know how much work is ahead of you and good luck .

Hey Mick I no longer work at video busters it was very low pay, I managed to get a job at Tandy Electronics much better . I live very close by to the london tavern infact I drive past it everyday 2 and from school I'd love to meet up for a drive soon there's another guy on this forum "Toecutter" sulio is his name he wants to arrange a Z get together soon and drive etc.. I'll keep you informed when that comes up. I still have your mobile I think, and believe me I understand budgeting I have to get a new clutch looking at $450 for one that will be good for turbo incase future requires . Speak soon,
  12. When i saw the picture I initially thought of this one. http://zhome.com/History/Images/macau240Z.JPG both interesting but not for me.

My rear bumper is missing for 2 reasons:- 1.) I don't mind the look. 2.) It's very costly to rechrome these items. Thanks for the compliments Mick how's your Z going anyway? I saw your car turning left off Glenferrie road down I think Malvern road but you didn't see my Z I was on the way to Uni :classic: . I know a while ago you wanted a new front bumper you can get them for roughly $300 from Zworx call Warren at PH: (03)95875500. I agree the 280z bumpers are awful looking comparing them to the earlier Z's but as you say it was a safety issue. On the issue of placing 240z valance on a 280z being an Aussie it's a bit hard to go from experience because we didn't get the 280z's. However I do remember some difficulties associated with it. Keep in mind the bonnet and front wings(fenders) are the same on all early s30 series Z's in terms of dimensions and should fit any Z. Forgot to mention I'll also be putting the rear bumper on as I know the results of people driving into the front of my car and would hate to have the back of my Z damaged by some moron who can't park and won't leave a note either .
  15. Buggered beyond repair 10 years ago could mean something different today . As long as the shell is intact and not smashed up then in my opinion it's not beyond repair . Finding some of the parts for it could be a nightmare but anyone taking on this kind of thing would know it's a long term thing anyway.
  16. Desert in Australia where? Desert = no rust tell tell tell

I realise that it may be illegal but I'm more interested in the problems associated with them sticking out as in:- Will it cause handling problems? Should have been more specific I guess .
  18. Well unfortunately no I'm not I don't have a ZX and this is probably not the place to really try sell it as were mainly early Z nuts. You can try Zmefly but he has an airdamn that might get in the way, maybe try on a ZX board or at hybridz.org. Good Luck.

The only way to change those bumpers is to get ahold of early 240z ones or 260z ones. However in the US as I assume that's where you are, the 260z were slightly bigger than the 240z ones. Here in Aus the bumpers remained the same from 70-78. Some people have made fibreglass bumpers but you may have trouble fitting them. there's also a couple of air damn's which replace the front valance and bumper area I think available through motorsport auto. Does that answer your question? :classic:

Just curious as nobody has ever said or mentioned to me, but I'm curious about what's the law or safety concern with having wheels stick out of the wheel arch? Interesting Zedrally I never realised it was illegal I wonder if my Superlites are same on the front and back. I know that my old 260z didn't have same sizes on front and rear but it still managed for Roadworthy.

on the topic of carbie comparison how about the Mikuni's? The PO of my car was running those but sold the car with the Dual SU's instead. I'm interested in the possibility of using Tripples but still have some faith in the old SU's. :classic:

HKSZ has the right idea unfortunately the non cross flow head of the Z makes it vulnerable to vapour lock. Ways around it are as follows. Is your heat shield still on your Z? no PO's have removed it have they? 1.) Install Vented 260z-280z bonnet. 2.) Use header wrap around exhaust manifold. 3.) insulate fuel lines. 4.) replace your 260z cabs with Round Top 240z Style carbs. Just a few things to look at a picture of your engine bay would greatly help with some diagnosis. Sorry it's late and I'm tired I didn't realise it was your Sentra causing trouble not a Z. I don't even know what a Sentra is . Good luck anyway.

I thought so but I didn't wanna give misleading info because I wasn't 100% sure. Thanks :classic: . So another words he was saying that the L engine block is very durable and i tend to agree as most other Z nuts will tell you. One review on the Z said the block was bomb proof well I agree it's very strong. :classic:
  24. I think that rust on the strut tower looks ok seems that it's a bit beat up around there which is unusual so try find out why and see from the other side if anything looks bent. It looks like it could possibly be hiding a bit of rust check under battery tray , under spare tyre, behind sills , you should really have a good look under the car. The front valance looks a bit beat up as if the car hit something it would be advisable to check under the front chassis rails for signs of damage this is not an easy are to fix. The sunroof is also a bit of a concern as the unibody structure of the car means the whole car makes the chassis. So another words the roof is a vital part of the cars structure. Removing this is expensive and hard to weld properly. How much is this car and what are your intentions with it? No I don't believe that was what he meant. I think because the L engine is a smaller capacity motor he refers to it as short block. Better off waiting for someone to explain it who knows the exact definition as I don't really know it myself sorry.
