Contrary to popular believe these carbies dont actually make very good boat anchors.

TO DETERMINE THE RATIO (internally) If you're not sure which ratio R200 you have lying around the garage, check it this way: Remove the rear plate (drain the oil of course). Then rotate the large ring gear until you see some numbers stamped into the edge facing you. If it's a 3.54 it will read "39:11" If it's a 3.70 it will read "37:10" If it's a 3.90 it will read "39:10" If it's a 4.11 it will read "37:9" http://geocities.com/zgarage2001/engine.html scroll down the page till you get to the part about diffs. I thought they had 3.7 or 3.9 in the 260/280Z, though that site recons it would be a 3.54:ermm:

I think the reason you are selling it is that you are putting a quad cam toyota V8 in your old cedric, and you wont bee needing it anymore. How was the cruise on the weekend? I couldn't make it: one datsun in a million pieces, and one old nissan with no brakes. Post some pictures here in your gallery.
  6. That would be one of the only "10" in the USA I suppose (see the other thread about a fairlayd for sale on ebay). Nothing special about a L20 engine. It's worth $100 not $1000. The 5 speed is worth more than the engine. Ditch the L20 and put a L28 in, or bore and stroke the L20 to 2.8 liters. and bolt it up to the 5 speed.
  7. 10 in the Us huh? Apart from beinf RHD is just a 280z 2+2. You are better off with the bigger engine of the 280z. There are lots of 2+2's in Australia. I cut one up into little pieces a few weeks ago. Just doing my bit to reduce the number of rusty z hunchbacks around. The only good 2+2 is one that been striped for parts to save a 2 seater. Just kidding. I've seen 2 really nice 2+2's. Not all of them deserve the crusher.

The ones that waved probably thought it was a porsche or a ferrari. I dont know about you, but i dont pay alot of attention of who's beside me when i am driving. I tend to keep my eyes pointing in the direction i'm traveling.

That looks like the fender mount mirror. I guess you may be able to put them on the doors There are right and left side ones, but you would have to get them from Japan. Our cars got the 240z style mirror. I want a left and right one, but i think they are identical, all you have to do is rotate the mirror 180 degrees and you have one for the other side of the car. I havent tried this yet because i dont have a mirror to try it with, so if someone could test my theory for me, and let me know if it works.

  16. The 82-85 GT R30 had rear disc's i'm pretty sure. I have a photo of a R30 L20 turbo GT that was for sale for $1200. It was a 4 door sedan. I took some pics of it, and in a pic of the Diff you can see the back of the wheel with the mounting bracket and the caliper. The photo aint the best, but that looks like a disc setup.

  20. Are they 240 or 260/280? I have a set of 260/280 that i'd sell outright if anyone is interested.
  21. My 65 silvia has one.
  22. I recon its a head allignment thingamebob. It usually has a metal thing, like a piece of tube with a split down the side, and with bevelled ends, and correspinding hole in the head for it to fit into. Its so that when you drop the head on it is aligned correctly, and doesnt move around when you are tightining head bolts. Just my guess.

Well actually if you follow the thread from the start, it was abas who spent the time and effort reverse engineering the glovebox and produced a template, which he sent to Mike W who made a few. Is he gonna cut abas in on the profits? Also I woudnt pay for shipping for a piece of cardboard to get sent from the USA, when I could just make one myself. for less than the cost of shipping. Are we going to stop giving people advice on how to fix their old zed's because one of the members here may own a car workshop and we's be doing him out of business if people fixed thier own cars. So abas if you have the dimenions drawn up, i'd like a copy. Share the knowledge. That's what this forum is all about.
