hENRY, I am a novice at repair work but that thermostat may need replacing. I also suggest you drain some fluid from the cooling system until the top of the core is visable and check for any plugged cores. If you see two or three through the filler hole you can be sure the radiator needs a good flushing or a boil out. I removed mine and drove it to the shop and saved a few dollars. I don't know if that is of interest to you. {saving money , I mean} cliff.

P S ..... Chilton mentions Re. 1973 Datson sedans...... There are three types of horn bottons or rings on Datsuns. The first simply pulls off. The second, which is usually a large, semi-triangular pad, must be pushed up, then pulled off. The third must be pushed in and turned clockwise. I have never had mine apart so I do not know of what I speak, I just thought these words copid from the manual would be helpful to you. Be patient and don't give up! cliff

I have a Haynes Owners workshop manual for this car and no details are shown for the steering wheel. It mentions only the retaining nut, upper bearing,steering column, steering shaft and lower bearing. No detailed description of the steering wheel itself. Just play with the parts, you will find the way they all slip back together. Good luck! cliff

No emergency , but, how many out there have had experience with using a slide hammer on the rear stub-axel? I do a lot of my own lighter work but this idea makes me wonder if I want to attempt it. The '71 Z in question has 250K miles on it and no indication that the rear bearings have been attended to since it came off the assembly line. I have no noise that I am aware of, the rear end is noisy enough that I can't tell for sure if the rear bearings are in need of help. Am I opening a can of worms attempting to pull these stubs and lubricating them or should I leave well enough alone and continue as they are? Your experiences would be appreciated. Both good and bad. Gee, a spell checker would be nice. cliff.

Also, warmer air drawn through the radiator in the summer time would cause the car to warm up a bit. That happens to me each summer in So. Cal. My Z also runs a mite warmer when the timing is too far advanced. cliff
