  1. Good thing it only stayed fired-up for a moment... there's no upper radiator hose. It also says that the slotted wheels are in fair shape; too bad there's only three of them. It's amazing that a car would sit around for 21 years. That's a life time for many of our members. Well worth $250 in parts. There's a few parts there I'd like to have, I'm sure.

    Would the very last ever 240Z be highly collectable? That'd be pretty cool! Wouldn't that be something... the oldest and newest available 240Z in your collection.

  4. I'm interested in this subject too as I plan on replacing all my bushings this summer. It's mentioned in this thread that info on the installation is on this site; that's great. The book, "How to Restore you Z" by Humble (I hope I have it right)... does the book have instructions on how to replace the bushings? I'd like to have it all in one place, in hand so that I can study it well before diving in. Thanks

  8. How to Modify Your Nissan&Datsun: Ohc Engine by Frank Honsowetz If you have this book, what do you think of it? I'm thinking of buying it if for nothing else than for interesting reading. My Z is stock but I'm interested in doing performance mods here and there over time. Thanks, Steve

  10. My driver door lock on the '70 240Z doesn't work. It'll unlock the door but not lock it. I removed it from the door, lubed it, and tried working the key back and forth; but it didn't help. I checked MSA, Too Intense, & VB. The didn't seem to have them. Do you know who may? BTW, I searched eBay and found these (hope the link works, never posted one before). ebay lock I'm not sure they'd fit. What do you think? My door key is shorter than the keys in the photo. The seller says they're new but the clips look rusty to me. Thanks in advanced. Steve

Why are cigarettes sold in gas stations when smoking is prohibited there? Do you need a silencer if you are going to shoot a mime? Have you ever imagined a world with no hypothetical situations? How does the guy who drives the snowplow get to work in the mornings? If 7-11 is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, why are there locks on the doors? If a cow laughed, would milk come out her nose? If nothing ever sticks to TEFLON®, how do they make TEFLON® stick to the pan? If you tied buttered toast to the back of a cat and dropped it from a height, what would happen? If you're in a vehicle going the speed of light, what happens when you turn on the headlights? You know how most packages say "Open here". What is the protocol if the package says, "Open somewhere else"? Why do they put Braille dots on the keypad of the drive-up ATM? Why do we drive on parkways and park on driveways? Why is brassiere singular and panties plural? Why is it that when you transport something by car, it's called a shipment, but when you transport something by ship, it's called cargo? You know that little indestructible black box that is used on planes, why can't they make the whole plane out of the same substance? Why is it that when you're driving and looking for an address, you turn down the volume on the radio? I don't believe in reincarnation, but I did in my past life.

  15. I live here in the Albuquerque New Mexico area. The most popular vehicles are full size 4x4 pick-ups. However, no one has ever put down my 240Z. I get all kinds of complements from co-workers, friends and strangers. I had a guy follow me into the gas station in a 350 Ford pick-up just to talk about my Z. Even the muscle car guys think it's cool. If you believe the statistics, New Mexico is supposed to have the dumbest population; sound like some of the other states have us beat.
  16. What's the recommended type and weight for the 4-speed and diff oil. '70 240Z. I haven't changed either since owning the car. My shop manual just says use what the Datsun dealer sells; doesn't give type. Thanks, Steve
  17. I saw that listed in the on screen guide. But when I turned to the station (speedvision, I think), they were racing school buses.
  18. My Z sat for about 8 years before I got it. I did pretty much as was suggested above. In addition I took the carbs apart and gave them a cleaning. Also replaced all the rubber fuel hoses and flushed the steel ones. Removed the gas tank and had it "boiled" out. I flushed the brakes and replaced the hoses too, they were rotten. Flushed the clutch fluid too. I'm sure I did other stuff but can't remember right now. It's fun tinkering on a car that you don't have to drive the next morning.

    Bob M Thanks for the information. There was a guy here in Albuquerque that had lots of z parts but I guess he retired and everything was crushed. I took my z in for an insurance claim and the bodyshop was having trouble finding parts. They eventually did and the repair is in progress. It seems like most parts are easy to come by except body parts. Steve

  24. Yeah, I saw the Homer on the web site listed above. Really cracked me up since I had just watched the "Simpsons". It actually kind of reminded me of Homer Simpson, big and dumpy. :stupid:
  25. A Cedric, huh. I've never heard of one or seen one here in the States. I like it, pretty classy ride. That one looks very original. Probably belongs to an old lady who only drives it to church on Sundays. Thanks for sharing the pics.
