  1. For those that don't remember 76Datsun280z's post a while back ago about "Interesting excuse for selling, 280z on Ebay" which we got a laugh out of then here is the link http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?t=24572&highlight=280Z+ebay Well I was surfing around ebay tonight just for fun and laughed when I came across it again. Now some dealer named "Kicks Auto Sales" is trying to sell it. I guess ebay seller crashpoet10139 must have thrown in the towel At least the dealer washed it I can't decide which ad is more funny? The old seller or new seller. The dealer selling it now says " Look at the solid, original green trunk" This is great. I needed a laugh tonight. New ebay ad: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1975-Nissan-Datsun-280ZX-Mint-Low-Miles-No-Reserve_W0QQitemZ200088435614QQcategoryZ6187QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
  2. Glad to here you got the rust fixed. Do a leak test and see if it's solved. Hopefully it is About your new problem, they must have screwed something up if everything worked good prior to taking it to them for body work. This is where the wire diagrams in your FSM becomes your best friend if you have one. Trace the wiring and figure out where they screwed it up and correct it. Thats all you can really do. If thats the way they put stuff back togeather, I'd think again about going back there :paranoid: Best of luck,
  3. Well Thank you Zak Blue is one of my favorites on a classic Z. I couldn't get your link to work Zak? I'll put a couple photos of my Z up incase My beautiful Z http://pic4.picturetrail.com/VOL749/2758837/9374245/150699022.jpg http://pic4.picturetrail.com/VOL749/2758837/7760207/192162245.jpg
  4. Wow. Looks like one hell of a show Great job on your 240Z Mike. Sure looks fantastic. Great photos. Your missing first generation 280Z's though???? All I see in the photos are 240's and 280ZX's ????
  5. I was thinking the exact thing Will about removing the whole dash. I'm not trying to be disrespectful about the way you do it Tom. If that way worked better for you, then thats great. However I.M.O. If I were to go to the extream of pulling the entire dash, then at that point I might as well replace the whole dash with another one thats been restored. Just my thoughts. Another question for you Will- Maybe you answered this and I missed it but when adhering the emblem to the cover, how does that work exactly with the cut out there. What does the emblem glue onto??? and what type of glue did you use? The same stuff used to secure the cover in place? Thanks again man for the help on this subject
  6. Come on and admit it Zs-ondabrain. Thats your house right? HAHAHAHAH Thats just disturbing  Anyways, yes it was nasty last night. It was worse this morning trying to get out my driveway for work, but the good that came from it was they let us out of work early it was still freakin snowing good this morning too. The snow banks along my driveway are taller than my car. Yeah, my Z is always locked away safe in her little storage garage this time of year. I don't allow her to even see snow. She's my baby from Arizona and thats how she is going to stay Thanks for the support gang
  7. We just got smacked with another blizzard today. grrr. :disappoin Heres a couple photos I just took in my driveway. Sure glad my Z is safe in her dry storage garage See what we have to put up with this time of year. Spring can come anytime now
  8. So what your saying is the original emblem has to come off because the cut out on the cover is too small?? and you need to shave the sides of the emblem to get it to fit correctly on the cover?? Thanks for hunting down the link Will. I appreciate it.
  9. Thank you Will. Where is that post of yours? I won't get to it till late spring/summer if I decide to do it since she is still in storage for winter. Mar2c's photo I used above claims all he had to do was remove the steering wheel to install it with some, but not all of the adhesive like you pointed out. Doesn't sound too bad. What about the "Datsun 280Z" emblem right of the glove box? Is the cover cut out there so the emblem is still shown?? Looks like his is?
  10. I did find some answers using the search feature too, so sorry for reposting this again. Any additional comments still welcome though after searching I found mar2c's full face cap job. Looks damn good from what I can see in his photo
  11. Hello Z friends, I have a really small minor dash crack by my Vin plate. Has anyone tried one of these "Full Face Dash Covers" from Motorsport Auto? do they go on and look good and hold up good? I'm fussy when it comes to my Z which is why I thought I'd ask around first. MSA claims it has the same texture as the original dash http://www.thezstore.com/page/TZS/PROD/DC/50-2043 Thanks for any input guys,
  12. Glad to hear & see its running good for you. Congrats and great video. In your signature it should say "Drive It Like You Stoled It"
  13. My 280Z did the same thing. It took a few times before the starter would work. ( click, click, click, then she would crank.) after checking to make sure all my electrical connections were clean and tight (which they were) I figured the solenoid must have gone south. Sure enough I installed a new Nissan starter and that solved it.
  14. Your doing the right thing by shopping around for the best price, but also remember as the old saying goes "You get what you pay for" $985.00 to be real honest with you sounds about right to repair evil rust in those areas your talking about. Rust repair is for sure not cheap especially when you have to pay a good reputable body shop to do it for you. Good luck.
  15. Looks like a 1977-1978 280Z hood with aftermaket vents. Not sure what kind those are though Never seen them before. 240Z-1976 280Z's never had hood vents stock.
  16. Well we just got 10 inches of snow over the weekend. MAN it sucks. We had it almost all gone too before this storm  This winter just keeps feeling longer and longer
  17. Relax Enigma. I Love my Z and can't wait to get her back out again, but I'm not actually that crazy I was just exaggerating to kid around. I guess I should have noted that in my post so no need to be scared
  18. Don't feel bad. I cought myself talking to my Z the other weekend. "This coming late spring when the streets are clean and salt free, I'm going to give you a full tune up, change your oil & filter, give you a new fuel filter, flush & refill your coolant, inspect your brakes and wash & wax ya ect." I didn't put "CraZZZy about Z's" above my avator for nothing
  19. 10W30 is all I run as well in my Z. 20W50 is just way to darn thick. The only time 20W50 should be used is if you live in a state like Arizona where it gets like 110 degrees in the shade. I bought my Z from Arizona and thats what the previous owner of my Z used. Once I got her and had her shipped up to me, the first thing I did was changed the oil to 10W30. Made a huge difference. My oil pressure guage started working a hell of alot better too obviously . we've had 30 below 0 weather this winter here in MN. but my beauty is stored winters Like Gary stated Not many classic Z's are subjected to winters. They shouldn't be As for brands I won't touch that question being that everyone tends to get defensive about the brands they use. I'm guilty of it too
  20. Welcome back man, Those pictures of your accident is enough to make any Z nut cry Glad to here someone is fixing her back up to her former glory About your rust issues on the Z your looking at- First of all, how much is the guy asking for it?
  21. hmm well not a lot of info to go by about your Z but there is plenty of info out there to educate yourself on both mechanics and about Z's. This site for starters and plenty of books out there as well. MSA sells lots of good books that will educate you about the Z Cars www.zcarparts.com Like =Enigma= said, I too learned my auto mechanic skills from school yrs. ago. learned a lot too as I went along doing hands on and educating myself. I remember before I got my Z that I have now, I actually read a 1976 280Z FSM that I had cover to cover just because I wanted to keep my Z knowledge sharp I always recommend to yunger people that are learning to FIRST learn basic Auto mechanics, then think long and hard about which generation Z car best fits your needs skill wise and budget wise since each generation Z car is different in these categories. Keep in mind the classic first generation Z's really do rely on enthusiasts with the funds and "know how" to keep them in tip top shape. Thats true with any classic car. They usually require a little more attention. Then after you've decided on which generation Z best suits you, then buy a FSM for whatever Z your looking into and learn about it. Then you can finally start shopping for that perfect Z that fits you and you will have some knowledge on what to look out for when shopping around because you've done the stuff above first and now have some basic mechanic skills and some Z knowledge too. Anyway this is MY suggestion to newb's. I realize it may not apply to you being that you already have your Z first. Best of luck and welcome to the site.
  22. Thats a good idea Dave. I only drive my beauty in warm sunny summer weather anyways but thats a good suggestion for when I store it during winter. It's either do that or remove it before I tuck her away for the following winters. Don't want that to happen again
  23. Well thats kinda different Graphyx. My Z is stored all winter long for obvious reasons. She's a classic. It doesn't get warm under the hood as it's not in use during the winter months so when it's parked in the storage garage during winter time and it's 30 below 0 outside, things like washer fluid can freeze and crack a 29 yr old plastic reservoir.
