Mice have been living in my Z, It stinks!
It's horrible isn't it I thought of this thread last week while I was at work. I was working on a motorhome that a guy brought in and wanted all the appliances checked. I fired up the furnace and cooked a nest of baby mice. Now that smelled like living hell :sick: wasn't fun to clean out either. Had to pull out the entire furnace and ducts.

Fuel Pressure 26PSI

Fuel Pressure 26PSI
OK Correction, you can get just the check valve only. Z Car Source has them for $48.44 but still call and shop around. ;) Here is a photo of it I stole from Stephen

Fuel Pressure 26PSI
Nope, Should not bleed down. If your certain there are no leaks anywhere in the system than it's more than likely the check valve. Last time I checked they are not sold seperately so you have to replace with a new pump. For replacements they are still available new from Nissan so check with your local Nissan Dealer first. If they can't help you out (Like my local dealer ) than go try Courtesy Nissan www.courtesyparts.com if you can't locate one on there site, try shooting them an e-mail or call them up and ask. It's one of those parts where I highly recommend replacing with a stock genuine Nissan but thats just my opinion.

Fuel Pressure 26PSI
Pressure should be at least 36.3 for a stock 280Z and it's suppose to hold at that pressure. If it fails to maintain that pressure while sitting then more than likely it's due to a bad check valve in the fuel pump.

Hard to find parts. Fuel Damper/Fuel injector gaskets
Couldn't agree more about looking up the P/N yourself. Does for sure help with some dealers. My local dealership however is so damn dumb I tried to give them a P/N for something once and they still struggled. Said there system didn't go back that far. What a moron he was :stupid:

Hard to find parts. Fuel Damper/Fuel injector gaskets
I'm not disagreeing with the fact that it's smart to shop around. I do the same thing. But I got nothing but good to say about Z Car Source. First off, my local Nissan dealers here in MN. aren't with a damn and don't even know what a Classic Z is much less find a part for it. Courtesy Nissan out of Texas is fantastic and I've gotten plenty of items through them as well but whenever they can't get something for me like my Fuel Rail that was No longer Avail. For example, I called up good old Z Car Source and they were very helpful "Oh sure sir we've got that part for you." I've noticed too that sometimes there prices aren't always the best deal on certain things too but on alot of hard to get items that are no longer available through Nissan, they just have always been able to come through for me. Sometimes you don't have a choice but to eat a little higher price for a hard to get item. Thats just the way it goes sometimes unfortunately. It all depends. If he's able to find the damper he needs at Nissan for less than by all means, go through the dealer. From what I gathered he was having difficulties locating one so figured I'd mention Z Car Source as another option for him.

You won't regret doing business with Z Car Source of Arizona. I've boughten plenty of things through them and highly recommend them. Very nice, fair, and helpful people. Any hard to get item, they seem to always have it

saw this 280z on craigslist
If it's as decent as it looks in the photos, then thats not a bad price for it.

Fuel Injector Installation Question
Whatever makes you feel better but like ChrisB77 said, no way will they pop off.Thats why nissan designed it the way they did. Glad to hear your able to find the correct size clamps for the EFI rubber hoses. You got better Auto Stores than I do where your located.

Hard to find parts. Fuel Damper/Fuel injector gaskets
Z Car Source of Arizona has the damper New - $118.31 used - $40.99 Here is the direct link http://www.zcarsource.com/content/p/9/catid/7590_7592/FUEL_DAMPER Now for the injectors, all you need is the top and bottom 0 rings that fit onto the injectors. Remember to put a light coat of oil on the new 0 rings. When I did mine a while back I put a light coat of 3 in 1 Oil on mine. Worked great. Z Car source has the 0 rings too and so does Courtesy Nissan if you don't have those.

Fuel Injector Installation Question
Correct. Just the end that attaches to the rail needs the clamp. I recommend the orig. factory Nissan Clamps as those don't dig into the rubber hose like the regular standard plain hose clamps do that you get from auto zone, Napa ect.

If it wasn't for bad luck.....
What are the odds is right  Jeeze man sorry to hear about your bad luck. When it happened the second time around on your 280Z I bet you must have said a few choice words

Startin Issue - any ideas?
I'm thinking it could be a faulty Thermotime Switch. When the coolant temperature is below specs. (71 degrees) the bimetal contact in the Thermotime Switch is closed allowing the signal to the Cold Start Valve so that an additional amount of fuel gets injected for cranking operation. The bimetal is equipped with a heater for when you do repeated starting while coolant is below 71 degrees. Electric current should be flowing through the heater whenever the ignition switch is in the start position so it sufficiently heats up the bimetal allowing the switch to open to prevent an excessively rich mixture during frequent restarts like what your describing doing real short distances. I'm thinking that the heater for the bimetal in your switch is no longer operating like it's suppose to so when you go to quickly restart your Z, it's getting too much fuel and flooding. Once it has a chance to sit for a 1/2 hr. to an 1hr. then it will of course restart again for you. From the way your describing it, that sounds like a possible cause to me so I would look into that. let us know how you come out.

We found a Black Pearl.. and need help
Correct! Thats why I felt the need to list the correct name. Not just for the original poster but for whoever digs this up later using the search feature. They are indeed totally different parts.

We found a Black Pearl.. and need help
First off, your friend has one beautiful 280Z. Looks really nice. I did notice when I enlarged the photo that the side black plastic piece on the front bumper looks a little pushed in??? Or maybe it's just the way the light is reflecting on it? Hate to tell you but the fact the orig. S.A.P. items that are no longer on the car like the stripes, orig. dual racing mirrors, orig. wheels that came on the car new will indeed decrease it's value. That being said though I believe if your friend wanted to sell that Z, he could still get a damn good price for it IF everything is as good as it looks in the photos. I'm not sure of the exact market value either for his Z but personally if I was looking for another one and it met my expectations (No rust, ran really good with no major mechanical problems) the most I'd probably pay for it would be 7 to 8 grand.
