URGENT: Which tires? Bridgestones or Yokohamas?
I'm a big BF Goodrich and Goodyear guy myself. I guess if the ratings are very close then you might as well spend the extra $11.00 on the Bridgestone's if they are rated a little better.

Welcome, You won't be disappointed with a Z. The L Series motors are bullet proof motors. I've seen a lot of them go 300,000 easy if well maintained. Plus they are great performers on the street and are a blast to drive. Is it worth $1,800.00? It depends Rust is the major issue. Look it over very good. It's already been said on here many times about where to look for rust. Here is a quick list. -Floor pans -Frame Rails -Spare Tire Well -Battery tray -Rockers -Front Cowl area If all these areas are severely rusted then keep looking. If rust is minor and can be repaired then Yes, It's worth $1,800.00 Best of luck in getting a hold of the seller. Hope it all turns out good for you.

You should have a dampner. The purpose of it is to dampen the pulsation in the fuel flow thats being discharged under pressure from the fuel pump. I'd get that taken care of for starters. oh yeah, welcome to the site

Went out for a nice Drive in my Z today
BuDavid- Thanks again all. Nope, I don't have an issue with exhaust smell in my Z. The big cause of that is worn out weather gaskets. Yeah, I'm big on keeping my Z Original. I do have the cone shape K&N air filter, a 3.9 rear end and a solid Steel Diff. Mount though. Otherwise she's stock Oh yeah, and all poly bushings

Battery question
Yeah, Installed the new Battery in my Z this morning and went for a nice cruise It works great. Fits like a glove in the battery tray Plus the thing I love is it's got a handle Old one didn't and was a pain in the a$$ lifting it out and putting in when storing it winters.

Battery question
Never mind guys I wasn't able to make it to the dealer on time. Parts was closed so I had to settle for one at Batteries Plus up the road. I'm still happy though. They carry really good Name Brand batteries there. I'm just a big Factory Nissan guy Thanks anyways,

Battery question
Hello all, I need a new battery for my '77 280Z. I went to get one from my local Nissan dealer because yes, I want a genuine Nissan Battery The guy at the parts desk said the part # is no longer available. He said he can get one if I give him what is called a group number which is on the battery to get the correct size. As of now I just got off work and I have my Z parked in my storage garage about 15-20 minutes away from my house. Would anyone here be able to tell me what the group number is? I'd greatly appreciate it Thanks in advance,

hi need help
I agree the stock mirrors would be best. I just mentioned the ones from MSA incase you needed an alternative. Virto, the mirrors on your Z look fine to me. Don't trash them because the problem can be solved by simply tightening the two screws behind the mirror glass. Make sure you do that soon because if they are loose, they will only get looser with bumps/vibration and the head of the mirror will fall off eventually. :paranoid:

hi need help
What style mirrors are you looking for? Motorsport Auto which specializes in Z's has a few different kinds to choose from. http://www.thezstore.com/store/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Category_Code=OM For your question on the vents- Yes, the hood vents were on the Z's factory on the 1977-1978 280Z's. Were they functional? You better believe it They helped tremendously to allow the heat from the engine to escape. Anyway, welcome aboard to the wonderful world of Z's. It's like they used to say in there commercials "Once you get inside a Z, the Z get's inside you" :D Looks like Stephen beat me to the hood vent answer

Opinion Time: 240 to 280 bumper swap
Well everyone has there opinion about the bigger bumpers on the 280Z's. I personally am one of the rare breed that loves them I think (my opinion) they look every bit as nice as the earlier ones with the added bonus of better protection for your investment. Do whatever you wish man. It's your Z. I'm just giving my 0.02 cents worth on the subject
