well I'm majorly bummed
Yep, looks like yours is the same year as mine Sailor Bob (1977) I'll get a photo up when I can. Chris, Thanks a lot. I did send an e-mail to ZBarn last night when I came home from work. Haven't heard back yet. I sent them the diagram that Courtesy Nissan sent me that I edited to show which ones I need. I'll post it here for you if you don't mind looking for them in one of your Junk Yards. That would be really awesome of you man. Here is the diagram:

Well I got there reply back yesterday. Turns out they are N.L.A. from Nissan GRRR  He suggested ZBARN so I'm going to see if I have any luck with them. These buggers are b!tch to find

New 1971 240Z Check it out
Actually it was only available in the 1983 280ZX Turbo's. Not 1982. A guy named Bryan Little did an excellent write up on it. He installed it in his beautiful 1970 240Z http://www.geocities.com/zgarage2001/borg.html

"At least yours runs" Well not really. Can't run it with a fuel leak under the hood. I don't want me or my Z to blow up

Hey Chris. No unfortunately. I feel like I have been educating courtesy Nissan They have even asked me to e-mail my diagrams to them and I can't get them to e-mail  They sent me there diagram so I edited theres for them by color coding the pipes I needed and labeled them then re-sent it back to them. I'm now waiting for there reply. I never thought I'd have to go through so much hell to get a couple fuel pipes . They are good people there though. They don't give up and want to try and make sure they get you the right parts. Just a lot of work on my end though. When I do get the parts, I'll try and get photos up.

New 1971 240Z Check it out
I noticed that too Carl The T-5's were only available on the 83 ZX Turbos ???
-
fuel injectors
I think you must have a mixture of different brand injectors. 75-83 Z/ZX non turbo all used the same injectors.

my first 240z
Looks like fun. You'll enjoy it as already mentioned. Not many your age have the funds to do a restoration like that. congrats.

Pulling my hair out!
Well that warning about the two different makes of Master Cylinders (NABCO & TOKICO) is also listed in my 1977 280Z FSM so apparently both makes where available on the 280Z's according to my '77 FSM.

Suggestion on how to proceed...
Not a problem man Glad to hear you got it running good.
-
Suggestion on how to proceed...
I mentioned to check the tank too in reply #12 Definately not a bad idea. The W.I.A.I. (While I'm At It) bug isn't always a bad thing
-
Pulling my hair out!
Was the original Master Cylinder a NABCO? Reason I ask is because two different kinds were available. NABCO and TOKICO. There was no interchangeability of repair kits or parts between the two so possibly that could be your issue to. Good luck,

Suggestion on how to proceed...
Well sounds like you got her going. Didn't see your last post. congrats. I'd still do the fuel filter though. It sounds to me like it hasn't been serviced in a long time and needs to be replaced.
-
Suggestion on how to proceed...
Ok I'm not understanding "System pressured up and held approx. 36 to 37lbs with both the fuel pump/starter solenoid disconnected and with the engine running before the motor stalled out. This seems to eliminate the fuel pump, filter, dampener, and regulator." How can you rule out the fuel pump with it disconnected? The correct way is to leave the pump connected during a fuel pressure discharge test to make sure it's functioning correctly. Also you may not notice any issues with the fuel filter when you first fired it up to test it because the "crud" is settled at the bottom and didn't get a chance to stir up yet and clog the filter. Just my opinion again
-
Suggestion on how to proceed...
Buying a guage to test fuel pressure after the filter is a great idea. I have a pretty expensive FI Pressure Test kit, but making your own like mentioned works just as good for what you'll use it for. Yeah, it sure sounds like the symptoms of a clogged fuel filter to me. Thats what happens- Runs ok when you first start it, then later the crud gets stirred up and clogges up the filter restricting fuel flow and then it leans it out so much to the point where it kills the motor. If I were you, I'd take a look inside that gas tank as I'm sure that will need to be cleaned out as well.

Suggestion on how to proceed...
cleaning the fuel pipes out isn't a bad idea just because it probably needs it but I agree with sblake. If it ran good prior to the disassembly then it must be something you forgot to tighten down or something got bumped by accident. Do you notice a gas smell when its running? If so then that answers it. You have a fuel leak somewhere. Check the fuel pipes over good to. Mine just from old age developed a very small hair line fracture at the weld where it T's off and goes to the cold start valve just this weekend when I was going to take her out. I couldn't see it till I applied a small amount of pressure on it with my finger and it spayed as I did so you may want to double check the pipes too. When removing these, you have to handle them carefully. Best of luck. BTW, I hope you used High pressure rubber hose and not just regular rubber hose, and new hose clamps:) otherwise, you will be doing this job again soon.
-
well I'm majorly bummed
The rubber fuel hoses that connect the fuel pipes should hold up longer than a year. Are you using the correct rubber fuel hoses? They MUST be ones that are made for High Pressure. If your running plain old rubber fuel hoses then yes, they will burst or crack every year as the regular rubber hoses are not strong enough to handle the high pressure so that could be a possible cause. Yeah, I'm not one to procrastinate when it comes to my Z I e-mailed Courtesy Nissan and told them what I needed so I can go at it and get it done.
-
well I'm majorly bummed
Well I could but you probably won't be able to see it. It's a very small and I mean very very small hair line crack. Why are you having issues with yours too? Yeah, when I saw my leak I said to myself "Well so much for taking my Z out" Then I parked her back in the garage

What do you think about my new watch?
That is awesome man. Courtesy Nissan has a watch with the Datsun emblem on it that I like too.

Other cars you own, or drive?
My daily driver is a 1992 Chrysler New Yorker 5th Avenue. I got nothing but good to say about it. Nice looking and riding car and very dependable. I'm a huge Datsun/Nissan guy but I love mopars too.

well I'm majorly bummed
Thanks Enigma. Yeah, she's original so it was on borrowed time I guess. funny thing is she was perfect the last time I had it out last weekend and had NO leaks. Must have been weak then when I last shut it off during the cool down process is when the hair line fracture happened. Thats my guess anyways. I'm going to replace everything All new fuel pipes A-D, new injectors with new top & bottom 0 rings and new plastic holders (which I already have purchased ) I already did the rubber hoses with new Nissan hose clamps. I just want to redo it ALL so I don't have this wonderful surprise happen again . It will be hard to enjoy a vacation without the Z but I'll manage Just have to order my parts now so I can get her fixed up:)

well I'm majorly bummed
Today is my first day of vacation. Took thurs. Fri. Mon. Tues. off work and I couldn't wait to enjoy my beautiful Z over my long, perfect weather weekend and I went to fire her up this afternoon to take a nice drive and I noticed she started a little rough, then I noticed a fuel smell Sure enough, pop the hood and saw a massive fuel leak. It was puddling up on the intake and dripping onto the ground. At first It was tough to locate and I was thinking what the hell??? until I slightly pressed on the fuel pipe and sure enough as I did this, fuel was spraying out of the weld of the fuel pipe where it T's off and goes to the cold start valve. No big deal. I'll have to order it up and replace it but kinda bummed me out as I was looking forward to going cruising over my vacation but it could be worse Thanks for listening to me vent I'm just damn glad I cought it before driving it. Could have resulted in a big fire :nervous:
