14 x 6 Watanabe, 195/70, good fit under the K, not much clearance under rear guards fills them nice and tight

240K GT parts
GT's when released only came in 4 speed. Few GL's came out with 4 speed as well...no difference btwn GT & GL, perhaps ratios but I'm pretty sure all 4 speeds the same

240K on road next week!
Before and after pics, 2 years in the making....Would you believe I got my old car back after 4-5 years? Those who have been here long enough may recall I sold this to a younger guy (Mobsta), who then re-sold this car to an old friend of mine, and it's come full circle again! Wish it came with all the parts I sold with it oh well...! Paint OK, neat. New seats, carpet. L28 .030 overbore, flat top pistons. 5 speed w/ 3.9 diff. King Springs, new shocks all round. Can't wait for next Wednesday night...

1974 KHGC110 240K - my new project!
HA! Nice car... I sold this car about 5 years or so ago now. I fitted those rims/tyres and electronic distributor. Still got the pics in my old phone! I bought it from a guy in Lynbrook whose mother had it for years! Drove quite well too, not bad at all, from memory body was very straight and interior very good too. Well done, PM me if you're interested in catching up, I'm in Cranbourne. Small world indeed...!

C110 GTR replica grilles?
Thanks for your help guys

Wheel options - 240K coupe
8" wide may be pushing it on a standard 240K set up. 6.5" - 7" may fit depending on offset and tyre combination. If anyone has fitted 8" on a standard suspension/non-tubbed set up I'd be very interested to see. James

Work in progress...
Thanks guys. No diesel crank, bought an recoe'd L28 off ebay, rebuilt only 5000klms ago and when torn down, it looked brand new inside, I was amazed. Only real modification was the usual sump re-arrangment from rear to front bowl pick up, no biggy. I've heard about the Chrysler small blocks fitting, I've got a Valiant as well with a 318 but after a quick think, decided against ripping it out for the Datto. I'm not too happy with the paint job, initially I wasn't too fussed I was just happy to get it repaired, get the running gear strong, and looking "ok". Now I'm tempted to get it sorted properly, hey Kid K, you spray do you? I'm from Cranbourne, give us a price for a once over, I'll do all the prep work

Work in progress...
Front seats were from a ebay importing outfit in Sydney, $200 & shipped to my front door for both. Came with universal rails, but used the 240K rails as these only need a few mm drilled out from the rear mount holes, fits & works a treat...!

Work in progress...
Thought you might like to see another work in progress.... Running F54 L28 overbored .040, flat tops, triple 40DHLA Dellortos, mild cam, 5 speed & 3.9 diff, lowered Kings springs all round. Recently painted (not show quality but a far better sight than what it was), hoping to get it on the road within the next couple of months....cheers

240K Headers/Extractors
C210 extractors will fit. Difference btwn K's, 210's etc vs Z's is the recirculating ball steering (K's, 210's, etc) vs rack/pinion (Z's). Fitting Z headers onto K's fouls on idler arm, 210 headers fit no probs and are identical to 240K. Let us know how you go

Selling my 240K Coupe Project car
small world, thats my oooolllddd car there. admittedly, this was my first, immature, full blown attempt at this kind of work, reason i swapped it (for a sedan) was i wasn't happy with it. those flares right there is the first set made by challenge fibreglass in camberwell too.... tail lights, i remember chopping a spare set and doing this mini GTR type swap. grille leaves a lot to be desired!:stupid: you got this car from a fellow in beaconsfield didn't you? good bloke he is... good luck with the sale, i'm doing my coupe at the moment (learnt a lot so it's much better than my older attempt!), maybe we can have a melbourne K reunion!

Operation 240k
Hey Kid K, absolutely awesome car mate, that is truly brilliant. What it cost you for the front chrome surrounds to restore? I'd be interested in a GTR grille as well, guess I can stay up to date on here and see when you get your hands on a mould. Great work, that'd have to be the best ever 240K coupe I've ever seen! James

240k on ebay
This is my old 240K coupe which I made an attempt at replicating a GTR. I know the guy who is selling, and like he says, rust wise there is some but anyone handy with a welder can get it right pretty easily. Body wise it's very straight, saw it no long ago too...Wish I knew how to weld & spray properly when I had it! Amateurs!

What a story, & good news!
minimafia, I haven't heard back from my mate yet, he's very busy with rallies at the moment, but the car isn't going anywhere. If I do get, I won't be parting with it. I do recall now where my first car (a coupe) is located though, and if still there, you may be lucky. Since sold, the new owner was running an L28, straight LPG, gas research gear and turbo. It was also tubbed in the rear and fitted with GTR flares, nice wide rims & semi slicks if I recall correctly. It looked very very mean! It was a work in progress, body primed, in the corner of a large shop. Now to be fair to you, I've sent you a PM regarding it's possible location, just look them up on the net. Let me know how you go, I have no idea if it's still there or if he's willing to part, but you may be lucky at the right price, I'm going back 4 years or so now. Good luck

What a story, & good news!
Nice coupe there, I'm hoping I can get my hands on my old one again, depends on a few things & I'd hate to get another K only to have to part with it again, been done too many times. Was it necessary to upgrade the front end to counter the extra weight? What trans are you running, auto 904? What, if any, clearance issues have you had, esp trans tunnel? Definitely a nice piece of engineering there, much work left? Interesting to hear the 318 is practically a straight bolt in, I reckon even the standard V8 power would be very nice. What plans do have for the exhaust? Last year I spent the best $350 on an exhaust for my 318; 2" twin pipes w/free flowing mufflers, sounds great & has a mean bark. Good to see a nice machine there!

What a story, & good news!
Hi guys, Been a while but it's good to see the 240K scene is alive & well. For those of who you recall my last 240K coupe (green/blue w/black bonnet), I'm glad to say it has been located just 10 klms from my house! A little background story to this car goes like this; 1. Originally I located it as a gold coupe in Wantirna, Melbourne & I didn't have money to purchase. 2. My friend (let's say Jim) bought the car minus engine, trans, etc. 3. When I went to Jims house, I asked him if he wanted to swap my 240K sedan for the coupe; he agreed & used the sedan as a rally car (still does). 4. I repaired the coupe, sprayed body & fitted motor/trans, etc & registered the coupe. 5. Later I sold the car to Jesse (?) who lived in Warragul (approx 100klms from my home) 6. He sold the car to another guy after being quite dis-pleased with the quality of the vehicle (the thread is somewhere in these forums). 7. My friend Jim stumbles on this coupe not too long ago & as luck would have, it's back at his place! I just found this out today after calling him, I was very regretful and sad for sellling that car. But as luck would have it, he's willing to 'talk turkey' regarding the car. It isn't going anywhere, and basically, if I want it back, it's mine! Jim says the only reason why he didn't call me, was firstly he lost my number & thought I wasn't interested in Datsuns anymore, just Chryslers. Not so true... Apparently the car is still solid & in VGC, pretty much the same from the day I sold it. I'll be going over during the next week to have a chat & look over his collection of K's as well. Watch this space guys, I may be back....and for good (have I said that before?) Cheers

Black is the new Black
Hmm, I think this may be my old cars engine; I sold my first 240K coupe to my cousin, who then converted in to straight gas with this exact turbo set up I sold with the car. He then sold the car to Lindsay @ Z Spares Melb for $500 (crazy!), who as of a few years ago had GTR flares on the rear with huge Nissan racing alloys, re-built the motor & the car prepped to bare metal. He was undecided whether to proceed with the project though. I'll try & find out what happened to this engine but I'm pretty certain the motor in this black thing can be traced back, especially as the set up was quite unique for this motor.

C110: RB20 or L28?
Lachlan, Good to hear you may be keeping the car. I tend to agree with those who suggest retaining the L series, whether it be L24/26/28, simply because you can make great street power & retain it's 'heritage' so to speak. The best example I can cite is my fathers '76 240K sedan. It had an L24 built by Gordon Dobie (Datsun Performance Centre / ex Datsun Team Mechanic I believe) and I can tell you this car was seriously quick. From what I recall on capacity it was either bored or stroked to 2.7ltrs, high C/R, triple 40mm webers, extractors, and one serious camshaft . It also handled like a dream. It out-ran many V8's, and a few GTRXU1's as well, and was very quick & nimble, response was amazing. If you're car is to be retained & street driven, the L series is quite tough & when you open the hood, you'll have some originality that people will say "damn, this old motor goes alright". ps Don't forget Datsun's (pre Bluebird) best Bathurst 1000 performance; 7th outright, Datsun 240K, 1972 and in a standard L24.... food for thought

FS: 1973 Nissan Skyline GT-R Replica (Datsun 240K)
If I had the money I'd buy it without hesitation. If possibleI hang onto that one Lachlan, that's looks real special, and as you say, you haven't seen a better one (and you probably won't). That really does stand out & looks fantastic. It's not an easy decision but I guess if you do let it go just savour what you done, have as many pics as possible, and be sure it goes to the right person, not some hoon who won't appreciate what it is. Best of luck either way mate.
