  1. .. this will be an interesting thread... for me.. 8th grade :stupid: i don't remember how old.. but like 13-14ish.
  2. Here is a new thread I started for full pictures and descriptions about my setup How to : Install a DVD setup in your 240Z and 280Z
  3. Glove Box closed and car put together Glove box open.. with the LCD inside DVD player from behind the passenger seat CLose up of DVD player under pass. seat.. notice how I have room to open and close the CD/DVD tray Not bad for under $300!!! It works
  4. How to : Install a functional DVD theater system in your 240Z or 280Z!!! This is a small documentary/how to : install for a cheap arse.. ghetto DVD setup for your vehicle. Total cost : $290 bux What do I get? : -7" Widescreen LCD monitor -Mobile DVD player that plays DVD's, CD's, MP3's, VCD's, SVCD's and has a BUILT IN TV TUNER! To watch TV on the road -FM Modulator What is an FM Modulator? Let's say you have a CD player or a stock radio and you don't have the option to plug in RCA audio or video wires into the back of the radio/cd reciever. What an FM modulator does is it converts the RCA audio cables (Red and White like for your TV) to an FM frequency like 88.3 mHZ so I can tune to 88.3 FM and I can hear my movie playing or video games, etc. It plugs directly into your original antennea. This is what I started with.. lots of wires and lots of wires Everything is hooked up and tested so now I can install everything nice and clean. I want a professional look. You have the option to plug everything into the Cigarette Lighter, but instead I hardwired everthing to the fuse bus. Sounds complicated but all you do is simply splice the wire to the Radio or Cig. Lighter cable and solder the wires onto it. Or you can wrap it around the wires and electrical tape it for a secure connection. It's not recommended but it works. This pic shows the connection of the DVD player and the LCD monitor to the RADIO wire right after the fuse bus. I attacthed it to the radio so when I turn on the car to ACC the radio and the DVD player and the LCD monitor turn on all at once, so it doesnt drain power all the time from the battery. More wires CLose up test pic... notice the "Pyle" on the LCD screen... it's my Pyle of $^!# DVD setup
  5. that's a dealership install package... not factory, but an aftermarket accessory to match factory
  6. Cutting springs are dangerous and can cause your car to loose control easily. Just buy some shorter springs or coilovers from MSA.
  7. they have some FM modulators where instead of it transmitting it over the air, I can directly connect my antenna to the FM modulator.. that might be good quality. I'll see how it sounds.. and if it's really bad... guess I have to figure something else out.
  8. I already have a security system in my Z With an ignition kill switch when armed What I want to do is mount the LCD in the glove box. How I would do this is mount it INSIDE of the glove box, so when I open up the glove box, as it folds down, so does the LCD. (just like some of those cars with extra guages or engine computers) So from the outside and inside it looks all stock, until you fold down the glove box and BAM! There's a 7" LCD screen Everything I do in my car I try to make it stealthy and not obvious. For example my secuirty system came with these BIG arse stickers to let people know. I just put on 2 small little stickers above the door locks to say I have Alpine security and I have a blinking bright BLUE LED light to warm em off. Also with all of my audio stuff, I cover it up with a black towel every day so people can't see it, and I don't have a single sticker so no one knows I have it. I try to be stealthy.
  9. Let me know of your opinions on this setup... should I mount an LCD in the dash board or glove box? or should I do a sunvisor LCD screen? or should I mount it ontop of the dash above the guages? NOTE: I will not have 3 monitors.. just a basic idea
  10. I know that most of you guys probably don't have a video system in your Z especially a 240Z or 280Z and even a 280ZX.. but I figured hell, maybe I would be one of the first... I am currently working on a video setup for my 280Z and instead of spending $1,500 on a motorized flip up in dash DVD setup.. I am building my own setup using a widescreen 7" LCD screen and a mini DVD player underneath my seat. In order for the DVD player to send the Audio OUT signal to my CD player, the only way is if I had a AUDIO IN jack or input. This meant that I had to get a NEW CD player or headunit untill I came across something.... an FM Modulator.. pretty much what you do is plus in the the AUDIO OUT wires into the FM modulator which has an AUDIO IN RCA input. What this does is create's a signal and transmits the information over a radio frequency like at 88.7 MHz or 88.7 FM. This means that I can turn on my normal radio and turn to the radio station and I can listen to my DVD or whatever. So now the guys with the original tape tecks can have a CD player plus a DVD player play through the radio This total setup costs exactly $264.97 compared to a $1,500 indash setup. Also the DVD player can play DVD's, CD's, MP3's, VCD's, SVCD's and my favorite... this DVD player has a BUILT IN TV TUNER So I can actually watch TV on the LCD screen and through my speakers.. imagine watching the Simpsons while waiting for someone at a store or in a long line of drive through take out. So when I put everything together my electronics and gadgets in my car consists of : Kenwood Excelon Headunit (CD player) 4 - 4" inch Alpine Speakers 3 - 10" inch MtX Subwoofers MtX amplifier 650 watts Legacy LCD 7" widescreen moniter mini DVD player XBOX Kinda neat in a little Z
  11. You still haven't sold that 240Z??? it's such a beautiful car... it located right here in my state.... man I wish I had the money. But good luck on selling the car Try eBay yet?
  12. aRCH-Z.. you have by far.. the sexiest Z i have ever seen in my life... everything you have done to that car... I wanted exactly for my Z... and the steering wheel is freakn awsome! The RB engine swap.. the sound system.. the seats... the body.. ohhh man... I love your car
  13. Edit yeh i know about the years from MSA.. but why wont it fit onto a 280Z exactly..? Or can it fit?
  14. I am interested in a BRE front spock for my car.. but I noticed that every car I have seen with one on is a 240Z. Since the front lower valence of the stock 280Z is longer and lower to the ground, and the 240Z's were shorter and had the turn signal's in the valence.. how would it fit on a 280Z? (NOTE : the 240Z center valence, right corner valence and left corner valence are shorter and smaller than the 280Z ) Will it fit onto a 280Z smoothly?! Thanks
  15. check with a company by the name of BBS... they make the wheels for Nissan Skyline's as well as BMW's and high end luxary cars... BBS ...
  16. the 3 piece spolier's are soo hard to come by now a day's.. simply because no one makes them anymore! I don't know the name of the company... but I do know that BRE makes a rear spoiler just like the 432R but it's a one piece rather than a 3 piece. Do a quick search on this site and see what you can find.
  17. hmm... $2,000... sounds reasonable with all the stuff it comes with.. but then again someone is gonna have to get the engine working properly... sweet car though! If it was a bit cheaper I would buy it and ship it to Colorado.. hmm Only bad part is .. no title!
  18. Z's never had a stock spoiler except in Japan and the 432R versions of the Z.. and some FairLady's if I recall.
  19. hmmm.... both cars have had GREAT sucess in the rally world.... the 510 is probably in my opinion a better candidate because of the parts.. and the smaller engine. The 240Z had a larger engine and usually had to go into a different class but the 510 has less than a 2.0L engine so it can compete in a more generalized compact class. Boy.. I don't know.. I have always wanted to build my 280Z up to a full blown Rally car.. but... I would say the 510.
  20. Chloe works for MidWest Z not too intense restoration
  21. He said the compression was 90 psi on all cylinders.... isn't that really LOW for a turbo engine? I thought it was supposed to be between 130-150 ish right?
  22. Hey guys... I did do a search but not much help... what is a good price for a 1982 Turbo engine from a 280ZXT with 96,000 miles and a rebuilt turbo? I have been able to find one, but I wan unsure of the price... this is for EVERYTHING for the install including the ECU and the harness'es etc. The engine I have found he wants $630 I have seen sites with write-ups and previous installations where they bought a good engine for $200 - $300 miles.... but I am not sure... I also tried eBay and the classifieds to get an idea.. but I was just curious BTW I know this is more a classic Z car and classic engine site.. but I really love turbo's and are soo easy to add power... help!
  23. damn.. i wish I lived in Ausi
