  6. I have the Sony Cassette Radio which is OEM in the later 260Z's as far as I can tell as it fits perfectly in the centre console without trimming off the tabs obstructing the regular DIN size slot.

doesnt the z shop in QLD have performance radiators to suit?
  12. The throttle on my 280zx daily driver is sticking when i release it recently, enough to hold the car from 1500-2000rpm when idling. Pulling the pedal upwards with my toes or quickly tapping the pedal will release it. Honestly I havent had a good look at it yet, but as far as i can tell it could be one of 3 things: 1. dirty throttle linkage joint somewhere between the pedal and the throttle body? 2. Actual throttle butterfly sticking to throttle body resulting from dirt or warping? 3. Linkage return spring on firewall not tight enough. Now the spring was the easiest to check so i looked and while it doesnt pull the linkage back hard to full extension, it still seems to be doing the job, anyone solved this problem before as your advice is appreciated, spending time on this car really annoys me as it takes time away from my 260Z.

I havent actually done any measuring as it is too far off (i sold my shell and have another car to start on from scratch) but the area under the rear 1/4 window looks like it could be used without removing anything as long as the enclosure is contoured to the body to make the most of the volume available. I will be look at much smaller boxes the 1cuft, www.phoenixgold.com have some small enclosure optimised subs. As far as polyfill/dacron goes, in the audio community there is strong debate whether it actually does anything, whether it is an old wives tale, or if it does do something but not noticably. i would keep that in mind, I wouldnt expect big things either way. Also for complex shapes I use bean bag beans and a measuring cup to measure volume.

spare tyre well is the easiest for a large sub. In mine I plane to contour fibreglass enclosures in front of the strut towers/behind the seats, but i will be using 8"s. As for the 6x9's, from a sound quality point of view I would sell them and buy some nice splits. The cabin of the Z is so small rear speakers, especially 6x9's are the last thing you need. If you dont want to cut your door trims, make kick panel enclosures.

Definately wasnt that much, unless you are including aftermarket management etc etc. You can see one of his sets on a car at http://www.datperform.com/tech_archive.htm

independant throttle bodies? http://www.speed-technology.com/efi_main_page.html do a kit.
  20. From what I have heard, No, but I dont claim to be overly knowledgable in steering systems. Likewise I have been told that incorrect dimensioning/positioning of a new steering rack will totally stuff up the steering geometry of the car so it doesnt seem like too much of a bad idea to let a pro handle it.
  21. Anyone secretly want to defy "classic-ism" and step into the comfort of the modern decade? I thought why spend $30k on a car without a few comforts. I have been in touch with a steering business in QLD and they will produce a power steering setup for the Z, only catch is I am in Melbourne and cant leave my car with them. They usually charge approx $600 for a kit or $1100 installed. If anyone in Queensland is interested in power steering for their Z it would be great as it would a kit to be developed and I could have one sent down.
  22. OK, so i was lazy and did nothing on the weekend, must do it this coming weekend. Another thing I did some reading on is ignition coils. Apparently symptoms of a poor coil are loss of power and poor fuel economy, sounds like my car. Any way to measure spark?
  23. It might be cheaper to by a stuffed 280zx.
  24. same with the L28E i just sold....hopefully i can find the cause tomorrow or sunday.
  25. Fit an off the shelf surge tank under the car. Use the stock 280zx fuel pump to feed the surge tank and and pick up a nice new bosch pump or 2nd hand vl turbo pump etc fed from the surge tank to supply the injectors. The surge tank will always have fuel as it is tall, thin, and the pick up is at the bottom. This should all cost only ~$200-$300. Sorry if i misunderstood the problem.
