  1. I'm with you on that.
  2. I've never put the dished pistons in a F54 block but it should come out with the same CR as a N42 block with the same pistons. That's fine for a daily driver. Or maybe you could just find a P79 head. Plenty of those in the junkyards (out here anyway). It goes with the F54 block and flat top pistons and gives about 8.5:1 which would also be fine for a daily driver.
  3. Your 76 should have dished pistons. PO engine swap, most likely. What block do you have, N42 or F54?
  4. You don't need the spacer plate, it's for the automatic trans flexplate. Do you have the proper speedo cog to match your diff. ratio?
  5. The product you're looking for is called DeOxit. As far as the fusible link ratings for a 76: Black 80 amps 0.50mm Red 50 amps 0.69mm Green 40 amps 1.25mm
  6. Yeah, you got me there. I haven't seen the movie for a while.
  7. The problem with the first part of your question is that, unless someone did the conversion, your 240 alternator is externally regulated and will not work properly in the 720. And since the 720 alternator is internally regulated, it won't work in the Z without modification to the wiring. I would quit experimenting before you have two bad alternators and possible other electrical problems in both vehicles. Put the 240Z alternator back in the 240Z. A 720 pickup uses the same alternator as a 1978-1979 200SX, 1978 F10, 1979-1982 210, 1983 Pulsar, 1979-1982 310, 1983-1986 Pulsar NX, 1982-1984 Sentra, or 1978-1981 510.
  8. Sunbeam Tiger was also the original 'Maxwell Smart' car.
  9. As I once heard said in a movie: Leave the man alone with this talk about 'making him sell his cars'. Besides, have you ever seen that particular 'commercial district'? You'd pretty much have to close down the whole area.
  10. No, Hedley Lamarr is correct. That's the name of the character he played in Blazing Saddles. You're thinking of Hedy Lamarr, the actress.
  11. They originally had a Ford 260. Then later they had the 289. People have put 302s, and even 351Ws in them.
  12. Those have been there longer than five years. I saw that lot about 5 years ago when I worked in Riverside. Tried to find info as far as owners, etc. but it was just as sketchy then as now. I basically got the same story from the adjacent businesses. I checked on it off an on during the years I worked at ACE Hardware but never was able to find out anything else. If you do find out anything, let us know. I gave up on it long ago.
  13. My 810 used to spend about 4 days a week in Riverside when I worked at ACE Hardware on Mission Blvd. I live about 20 miles up the 215 from your area.

The EGR valve won't be the sole cause of those bad readings. Bad mileage and fuel smell sound like you have EFI component problems. I wouldn't touch the AFM adjustment without something to read the results which I do have but most people don't at home. You need to go through the component and functional systems tests as outlined in the FSM.
  15. It isn't so much about cheap hoses as it's about using the right kind of hose.
  16. Yeah and you probably won't notice because the outside looks okay. But they breakdown from the inside-out.
  17. That's an "Old Country Trick" as my Dad used to call that sort of thing, but it works, or at least it did for me the one time I did it.
  18. Yeah, that was kind of a two part question. As far as the rear kits go, they look pretty easy to install. I didn't put them on, however, my suspesnion guy did.
  19. Rear camber adjusters. I have them on my 78 280Z and my 810. http://www.thezstore.com/page/TZS/PROD/PSDC07A/23-4171
  20. Or use the tripmeter. Zero it out when you fill up and then at the next fill up, divide the tripmeter reading by the number of gallons.
  21. Piston tops, valves, combustion chamber. etc. Whatever you can see.
  22. Test them first. That'll save you from replacing items that are not in need of replacing.
  23. According to the site I use for paint codes, that color is called Cadet Blue Metallic
  24. I, and I assume everyone else with an S30, can turn on the headlights without turning the ingnition switch at all so something's wrong there. I believe that wire is for the buzzer.

'I am speechless' is a rather ironic title for this thread.
