I have heard that using a 280et engine and taking the turbo off is not good for performance. The pistons are also not flat on the 280et engine. Is this because of compression? Thanks, Ben

That is one nice Z. Out here in the states I have never seen a conversion like that. I am sure they exist though. Many of the Z's that have rb's that I have read about are usually in Australia. Does anyone know why this is? Are there that many Skylines there to support these engines. Anyways, beautiful car. I too would love to see it while I am in my 260. Hehehehe. -Ben

i have a early 260z. I am thinking about swapping the bumpers for some early 240z bumpers. Has anyone done this conversion before? How much work would it be? Would it look good? I want to do this because my bumpers are small, but not as small as the 70-72 240's and I want to put the Nismo mesh grill off a fairlady Z on my car. Is there another way to be able to put that grill on without changing the bumpers? I would have to remove the bumper shock absorbers for sure. Any info would be great. Thanks so much, Ben

To say that the g-nose was on an s30 is a little incorrect because the s30's came with a 2 ltr engine. As far as body style, yes it is a S30. This whole site is about the s30, which includes all first generation Zcars. To be a little more correct it could be considered to be on a HS30, which has a 2.4ltr, but the 240zg is the name of the so-called HS30 with the g-nose and was an actual model offered by Nissan. To be exact, the chassis type for the 240ZG is HS30-H, but the vin# will say HS30-, not HS30-H-. The 240zg was built from October 1971 to September 1973. But it was considered a 1972-1973. I believe that Nissan did offer the g-nose as a sports option though, but I am not 100% on that one. To really get more information about this I would talk to Alan(HS30-H), since he owns one and is a Z afficionado(I cannot spell). The figures came from "Fairlady to 280z", by Brian Long. I hope I helped. The 240ZG is a very beautiful piece of Nissan history. I do not know of an original 240ZG in the states, but hopefully I will bring one back someday. Hehehehehe. I am such a dreamer. I was just wondering if anyone knew what rally this was and if there was any history on this car. Hello everyone, Hey 2manyzs. You were saying how non-rare and non-expensive the mesh grills are. I would love to find one for my car. I would be willing to pay 100-175USD if you knew where I could get one or if you could point me in the right direction. Thank you. p.s. Well, I have always been curious to see how the rewinds would look on a Z. I am not too impressed. I thought they would look better. They still look good, but not as good as panasport or watanabe in my opinion. This is an awesome car from what it sounds like though. Derk, I am in an opposite situation. I bought my car in the Indiana and brought it here to California. There is still some rust that needs to be controlled, but overall it is not too bad since it sat in a garage for so many years. Thus, I bought it with only 62,000 original miles. I am no expert at restorations because I have not done one yet, but I plan to in the future. My friend is restoring a 61' Fiat and he started removing everything from the car and then he sent the rolling shell to the autobody shop while he rebuilt the motor. When the car got back from the shop he dropped in his motor, rewired the car and drove it around the block with a bucket as a chair. The rest of the project for him was to rechrome, find parts that needed replaced, and find more parts. If I were to restore a car that is how I would do it. I didn't look at the site that hard, but my pc does not have Japanese installed on it so I cannot translate the words. My Mac has it for some reason, so I just look at everything in Babblefish. Eeesh, 500 hundred for those eh. They are nice. Don't know how good it would look on my blue Z. Plus, if I want that Japanese look the first thing I would do is change rims. -Ben

Sounds cool 240zdragon. 26th-Z, if you find a source for 432 model kits in 1/24 I would love to know as I am looking for one too. I saw one about a year ago. Now I kick myself for not getting it. Since then I have not seen one. Fujimi is the only company that I know of that makes the 432. Oh well. -Ben

I wonder if this stuff is for sale. It looks like ther is a compe handle and the Nissan light covers with the chrome trim. Jeeze, if they are for sale I am sure they are top dollar. I will have to find out with babblefish when I get on my mac next week. Nice find. -Ben

Hey 240zdragon. When you are done with your model I would love to see pics of it. I am building a Fujimi Fairlady 240z. When I am done I will post some pics. Take care. As far as dicast goes kyosho is good for Z's. I know there is a green one that Ebbro offers but it is 1/43 scale and it has a black interior. Good luck finding it. As Zdragon said, build one. Revell makes a nice 240. Fujimi has a lot of different Z's to choose from, but the quality is not too good. -Ben

Don't get me wrong, I love the Zcar. There is always going to be a place in my heart for them and I plan to buy another in the future, but I do have interests in other cars. I have been reading a lot of car mags Lately and it has sparked my interest about many cars. Not all of them are that similar either. I was just curious what cars you guys are interested in or own. Here are some of my fav classic and new cars just to name a few: I love the idea of a four wheeled motorcycle, so the Lotus( or Caterham) super 7 it is. The Jaguar XKE is the most popular of the Jags, but I fancy the Xk120. Hey I even sound like one. HehHEhehe. The Bentley's of the late 20's and early 30's were great. In my opinion the most sporting car of their day. Too bad they cost upwards of 200-400,000 USD. As far as the new goes I would someday like a Subaru WRX Sti. The Lan Evo is awsome too. Every now and then I get to drive my Moms Jetta VR6 when I am home. I am the one behind her getting it. She was thinking about a cabrio, but I intervened and suggested(begged) for the Jetta VR6. She loves the Jetta, as I do too. I could go on and on, but I wont. I am curious to hear what you Zcar enthusiasts would like to place next to your Z. List them off. -Ben :classic: P.S.
