My Datsun 280Z "Rustoration"
Same tires as me but i'm running Tokico Blues. Yep triple checked that the .001 labeled springs were in the front and the .002 were in back. Made sure they were all seated correctly. All suspension and control arm bolts were loose when springs were installed. I've even called Eibach and asked if they would "settle" he said that all Eibach springs are already pre-settled from factory so NO. Not sure whats wrong, other than removing the bumpers but I dont think 40lbs will lower it 4"

Nice, yeah id like to see the before and after. My rear sits super high for some reason. Theres about a 5" gap between the fender and the tire so the 240 insulators probably still wont get it to where I want it.

How much did the 240z tops lower it?

My Datsun 280Z "Rustoration"
Well......I pulled the trigger and just ordered these. They are the BC coilovers from JPN Garage. They've been getting pretty good reviews over on Hybridz. I'm pretty disappointed in how my Eibach springs are sitting really high in the back. Plus I would like some camber adjustability. Has anyone else tried these?

They're awesome dogs. I had a 13 year old boston that I had to put down this past new years eve....it really sucked. This guy is Louie, and the white one is Charlie, he's a Boxer/Old english bulldog mix that we rescued.

Thanks Charles, yeah if I were to do it again I would've gone with the fiberglass dam. But it is nice to have a little flexibility.

Thanks! You also need to remove a small bracket on each side of the 240 grille thats riveted on.

My Datsun 280Z "Rustoration"
Been busy the last couple days working on getting the front end done. Finally finished tonight and I think it turned out pretty good. I have the Xenon uerethane air dam with the 240Z parking lights, 240Z fiberglass bumpers, and a modified 240Z grill. I had some help from my dogs. First I attached the air dam using some plastic rivets and 10mm bolts I ended up cutting out a couple inches of the center area that is always wavy. This made it a little more flimsy so I fabbed up some brackets out of 1/4"x3/4" steel strips I got at Lowes. I painted them flat black. I used a factory mounting point and the bracket goes down to the bottom lip of the air dam where I riveted it to the dam. From underneath Riveted the bottom I then realized that my factory turn signal mounts were very white and would show through the grill so I masked off the car and sprayed them flat black. I should've done this a long time ago but oh well, now I know. With my air dam nice and secure I started on the bumper brackets. I purchased a set online from somewhere when I got the bumpers and they were complete garbage. I then tried using some factory 240z brackets but they were going to be way too much to make them work, So I decided to make my own. I recommend attaching the bumper on the sides first then taping it up where you want it. Then carefully measure for the brackets and make them fit to the bumper not the other way around (if that makes sense) I used 1/4"x1 1/4' steel strip and simply made an L bracket. Cut off the excess Put a slight twist in the bracket side that attaches to the bumper Drilled my holes I removed my horns for better access Test fit Painted flat black as well Then mounted. They're attached to the bumper by a 10mm bolt and nut Now for the grill I bought a 240Z grill and basically just swapped the top bar with the one off of my 280Z grill, that way I can use the 2 factory mounting points up top. Sanded it down and painted it a semi gloss black. Installed the grill. The front end is done!

Fuel return line
^^^ What he said
-
Fuel return line
You could probably run it either way, but I read something about it keeping fuel pressure in the carbs at higher RPMs when placed after the carbs.
-
Fuel return line
If you are running a return line, the regulator goes after the carbs.

triple weber conversion for 280z
Im running a 1981 Mazda RX7 4 psi fuel pump, this is the most important! You can run any other low psi pumps as long as there around 4 psi. Im currently using the stock filter and a Fuelab regulator. Also i'm using a return line but I dont think its necessary.

My New Z
I used the msa kit and have been happy with everything but the doors. I ended up buying factory ones for the doors.

One side I was able to leave the factory nuts in place, the other side I welded an M6 nut in place.

Welcome! Your car looks great. Thats awesome that its been handed down from family. I would keep it as is just give her a good detailing. Headliner and weatherstripping are easy fixes. Both available at MSA. You could always switch out the wheels to change the look if you wanted. I wouldnt try and start it without doing a full fluid change. These gas tanks are known to rust out so you may end up doing more damage than good. Change oil, oil filter, gas, fuel filter, plugs, plug wires. etc.. Performance wise, a good header and exhaust will give you a couple more ponies. Good luck! And lets see some more pics!
