  1. Does the 73 240Z have a larger booster ? Mine has a larger booster to and brakes very good/strong. The seller said it was from a 240Z but could it be a ZX ? I know the mounting holes didn't line up, I had to largen them a bit.
  2. Thanks to a little help from Robert ( EhlersRS ) I managed to buy another classic car for restoration. It's a 1971 Ford Mustang Mach 1 with 302 ( not the biggest engine, but I will give it some upgrades for more power ). Car is located at Orlando Mustang in Florida. Currently arranging payment with them, and it will be shipped to The Netherlands later on. It's an original Mach 1 by VIN, the VIN : 1F05F217955 Bought it for 3000 USD. Engine has water damage, but it will get a rebuild. The 240Z is mostly done and I need a new challenge, and always wanted an American muscle car ! This is going to be fun !
  3. Yesterday recieved an e-mail from somebody that seemed from the Dutch 240Z club who lived in Den Haag and who had original 240z steel rims/tires/hubcaps and wheelnuts for sale for € 170, couldn't refuse that offer, since they are hard to find. I will pick them up next saturday...
  4. Yup. But this is Europe
  5. Kats you could ask major fuel companies in Japan if they allready blend ethanol in the regular gasoline. I asked Shell here, and in their letter they confirm it's allready 5.7% in regular gasoline and in the near future it will be 10%. This 10% or E10 will give classic car owners like us with carburetors and fuel system not designed for ethanol a new problem.. My car can run on the " E5 " now, but E10 would not be possible to big chance of damage to the carburetors and fuel system.
  6. A cool picture I made today
  7. How long has it been stored since last driving ?
  8. Yeah maybe the other battery he installed had the poles reversed and he didn't keep notice of that.
  9. Today I went to a radiator repair shop to check about my temp meter, I thought the car was running to hot when pushed. But we checked with a heat gun, when the meter on the dash was showing 3/4 the car measured only 76 to 78c , according to the shop that was normal even a bit to low. So that's good news, I know now the meter is not that accurate.
  10. Check ignition timing, It should be around 17c ( a little over the 3rd mark in the pulley ) and make around 650 rpm ( maybe you can not reach that rpm because the idle on the carbs is not set right ).
  11. Last saturday I went to another classic car event in the village of Borculo. ( I can't seem to find pictures of it so far ). Also saw a Nissan GTR and ended up talking with the director of Nissan, Herwers Group. He said he also had some classic Z's in the past, his thought's where that Nissan should go back to making an affordable sports car like the 240Z's goal was back in the time. On the way back I found the 240Z was running strange it would not go past 4.5 k rpm. Back home on Sunday I checked the ignition, and found the timing was shifted because the bolt that holds the distributor was worn out, when I tried to fasten it broke of. ( see picture ). Lucky a friend who has alot of 240Z parts had one laying around, and the problem was fixed in the evening.
  12. latest message i got: Rob is unaware of the location of the original engine, the price has been lowered fyi...
  13. It's the ethanol in the fuel.. mine smokes to with it, when I put higher grade fuel without ethanol it runs much better and no smoke.

  15. Door tag said production date was 1/70 Datsun Z Series Black | eBay
  16. Here's his reaction: the car does not have the original engine, there is a engine in the black car however. the frame has never been hit or twisted to my knowledge, it has some rust though. call Rob on the phone number provided, lots of parts, new quarters, etc.. So I guess worthless to restore if the matching engine isn't there ?
  17. Looks like they wanted to save it, but gave up and passed it along ?
  18. If the original engine for 456 is there, somebody there should save it from the wreckers..and restore it , looks like it can be done. I sended him a message asking if the engine is still there. I like that rear license plate on the black one !
  19. You can see the vin if you look from the outside of the car on the dashboard it's on the drivers side starts with HLS30..

  21. Hello George ! Nice to see a fellow European :classic: Good luck fixing her up
  22. You can put the spark plug in the lead hold ( or put ) it against some metal part of the engine and check for a clear blue spark when you turn the key. I think it's the injector that's clogged, or the injector is not getting voltage to open up and let fuel pass it into the combustion chamber. Maybe you need a set of new injectors ?
  23. No way I would give 120k for that, but some people seem to do, there's a few fish that will bite.
  24. Last time I did it, the car was in front of the garage on the driveway... just open up the hood, slide the container under it, and pull the hose when the engine is cold. I use a plastic cat litter, like this one, works great : http://www.thepurrcompany.com/images/shop/large-cat-litter-tray-large.jpg
