  2. hey that was fast k Engine was bought from wreckers with 3 month warranty. (exp now). I am trusting the source as I have been back many times andhe has been helpful. So I dont believe motor is seized, a dud, etc. I am using the 260 distributor and have moved it from full advance to in the middle in hope of starting it. I havent tested the lights yet but fuel pump and gages go crazy when ignition on, so there is power enough...... what do do about a dodgy earth? thanks again
  3. ay guys Anyone want to know what I been doin the last 6 months? Well I pulled out my blown 260 motor and have now dropped in a 280 (stock). Lots of running around but its finnally in! yeay! Guess what? She dont want to start. The motor wount crank fast enough it seems. Battery is good as I pulled it out of a running regular driving car. So I thought starter's drawin too much current. Pulled out the old starter and put in another one from wreckers, . ... And ... same problem. It just dont turn. After a couple of rotations it wount turn at all. Symtoms of a flat battery right! So I got another battery and ......same prob. Last resort is to jump it, havent tried yet any ideas? cam\
  4. hi guys, I have just put an l28 in to my 260, after pulling the old blown one out. So far so good right. bought some extractors to fit on and then realised the delema. the extractors and factory exhaust are the same size but I have no way of joining the two together once I bolt the extractors on. The extractors have been cut, it looks like. I thought about cutting the exhaust and then joing the two with a round bit of metal where the two would match up. I dont have welding devices or angle grinders at my disposal. Any ideas? hacksaw? thanks cam finnally found z one
  5. hi guys just puttin my hand up as one of the melbournian zedders! yeay my 0.2c on the z rarity? Bloody rare, one might say rarer than a raw steak? I spent over a year lookin at zeds to find a good one. I have been all over the joint, willianstown, lara (where I bought my first z, a dog) donvale, carlton, etc. all over the joint. In my travels I have seen a heap of dogs, with alot of owners descriptions not matching the actual product. The classic line of most? "just needs a tune up" Needing alot more than a tune up. I also picked up an original service manual used by the dealer service centers for the 260z in my serach, for nothing. Which is good. I havent seen a 240 in the flesh yet, not only can I not get out to them quick enough half the time, most are out of the price range, 5-7k+ so yeah. I was thinkin about joining the ndosc but hasnt happend yet While I am in the aussie relm if anyone around has a drivers door for a 260 2 seater let us know. cam finally found z one '77 260z (L28 about to go in) 79 alfa gtv (DD)

hi guys I was hoping one of yas might know a good seat place to take my drivers seat to. Its an original white vinal one out of my 260. Has cracks, sags, etc. I took it to blackmans and another joint in melb, but both want around 350-400 bucks to make it right. Any ideas. Just concentrating on the drivers one for the moment. I also thought about dropping some mx5 seats in as the passenger seat isnt much better, but want to keep it original as it car still has factory radio, carpets, and spare tyre. any help on the seat situation would be great cam finnally found z one
  9. hey volvo, My story is not so different. Went down Geelong way and had a look at a 2+2. I loved bought it for too much, wanted to restore it, got it up on a hoist and found what was left of the underbody. RS basically. Had to sell it as it was 'too far gone'. Anyhow to cut a long story and a big car mess short and to second what the others are saying. Paitence pays. Trust me. Took me over a year to find my 2 seater 260, (have been all over melb in the search). The only Zed I have seen with a holeless underbody. VIP in this game. I am a sucker for the cheapies, but it pays to pay more and to take time to find the right one. Trust me! cam finnally found z one

  13. ay guys I have the spots too, right under the doors, on both sides! It is true, a little bit can go along way. I was pokin around the other day with a pile of rusty metal just pilling up on the floor. Not sure really how to fix it as I dont have welding tools or the know how. Not looking foreward to the quote at the body shop, but only one way out as they say. I put a pic in my gallery of the rust if you want to take a look (The worst of it) cam finnaly found z one
  14. hey shoudt, I heard that seats from an mazda MX5 or miata, will fit in nicely, not sure about the sliding mechanisms. I wanted some for my 260 as theres no support left in the seats. The wreckers wants $250 a pop, bit pricey. let us know what you decide on. cam
  15. 'hi guys, talking about bad Zed experiances, went down and looked at a yellow 260z 2+2, although I wanted a 240, I ended up falling for this auto 260z, loved it, just loved it. However got underneath the car and saw the state of the floor pan, cracks, holes, not much left of the rails, etc. The word from above was 'too far gone'... So I advertised it. NO One would touch it until a guy and his girlfriend came and offered me a swap. In the end I swapped my 260z for an '79 alfa GTV (one of the Zee's compeditors back in the day). Anyhow to get this gtv drivable cost just as much as the Z did in the first place! I am still fixing the alfa just to get it driving! So kept looking for about a year as a very harsh lesson was learnt. finnally fouund a good 260. paitence pays TRUST ME you can see it in my gallery. happy z hunting
