  1. I tried to show my wife one that was on yesterday -- it flashed to scenes of the car running through what looks like a rainy road and then has sayings pop up... She didnt get to see the car itself -- oh well. Oh yeah! That's my next IT car!!! I have a Nissan dealer across the street from my office -- they have a beautiful silver 350 out front -- a colleague of mine went to check it out and they wanted 100 bucks just for the test drive!!! Is that a dealership or a rent-a-car! If they want to sell cars they need to let people drive them!
  2. Thanks Ed! I will try this tomorrow (unless I am sitting on the couch watching the race). I will post pics and experience after I give it a whirl.
  3. Ok -- seasoned veterans and rookies alike! How did you get the crank out of your L-series? I have the main bolts out, but the FSM calls for some special Nissan tool. I will go get one if I have to, but I would rather find out if there are any hobbyist ways to do this. I can post pics if anyone wants to see what I mean. Thanks!

Would have to be in MD :stupid:
  7. Only problem is that I am packed into a 1 car garage and need the space -- always. I will also most likely be making a habit of needing to rebuild something or other, I will be racing one of my Zs... Projects=excuse to buy cool new tools. If a project does not require a new tool, serious consideration should be given as to wether or not the project should be done.
  8. Not cheap -- suggestion -- Buy new pins -- they did not come out of mine very clean at all! I am going to buy new ones (and some anti-sieze)!
  9. Ok -- I am joining the club and I have to say -- THIS SUXX!!! I have mushroomed both sides of the spindle pin and I still cannot seem to get it out.... If there is a tool for this job, please let me know as I have 3 left to go... And I have not even finished the first one!!! AKK!
  10. Thanks 2manyZs! BTW -- I never found the post on removing the rear control arm pins... Any sage advice? I have my FSM, but have not researche dit yet -- busy ripping my spare motor down and trying to make space in my 1 car garage.
  11. Anyone know what a trimmed out 280Z (FI) N42 engine weighs in at? I am getting an engine stand and there is a $200USD difference between the 750LB model and teh 1ton model. I really dont want a stand that could hold a mack truck engine -- just one to support my straight 6 for rebuild...
  12. At least I am on to the fun stuff eh?
  13. Ok -- I maybe should have posted this to the tech area, and perhaps I am truly a moron... I dont have a service manual nearby and I am tearing down the suspension off of my roller and for the life of me I cannot figure out how to take the lower control arms (I think that is what you call these?) off of the strut housings.. I am attaching a pic so please if you have done this please help -- the brain is not firing on all 6 on this one! p

I certainly appreciate your advice and assistance. I am sorry to hear about both of your losses. I cannot do the brake upgrade to the 4 pistons on the fronts? I am still awaiting the postal service to bring me my very own GCR, but I thought that brakes were open like suspension -- "factory mounts" yada yada. ??? That is one thing I would certainly miss about my 7... So the LSD or the NISMO diff is the way eh? When you mentioned the Ground Control kit -- did you mean the same folks as www.ground-control.com? They dont appear to have updated their site since '99. YIPES! So the 350s in the front eh? Thats exactly what I want to hear -- tried and tested from teh trenches! really -- thanks 2manyZs!

Quite simply my reasoning is this -- no matter what I race, the first few seasons I am out there the car is going to be _WAY_ faster than the driver. That being said, I got both of these cars and an extra drive train for a GREAT deal. I also think that within my first three seasons there is a definite chance that I may ball the car up beyond recognition so having an extra chassis is not such a bad thing. + I have seen some of the recent races at Summit end up with 280s in second, third, etc. (no one is going to beat that dang beamer!). I have a strong affinity for the RX-7, but the simple fact is that I can prep this 280 for less than the prep on my 7 for school -- plus the competition prep is roughly the same cost as making my 7 competitive. So -- your not racing out there anymore? Summit will be my home track!

Ok -- I am new here. I was going to prep my RX-7 for ITS, but I have now become the very proud owner of 2 280Z's. 1 has a cage already welded in, and the other is a solid donor. So what I am looking for are some of the stories you other IT guys have about prepping your Zs up. Like what suspension kits are best, brake upgrades, etc etc. I am not a total Z newbie, some years ago I owned 2 260Z's. 1 with dual webers and the other with trips. (That was a ZOOM ZOOM!) All help is greatly appreciated and perhaps I will see some of you out at the point once I get mine done! d
