Tony Fauci is greedy? That's news to me.

Yeah man, this guy is controlling the destiny of our country...  power.  Although some of his investments in biotech are debatable, he's still floundered around on his public decisions over the last year.  This kind of thing shouldn't be in the hands of a single man.  Take a look at his entire (news worthy) history here:  https://www.theepochtimes.com/t-anthony-fauci

I heard Tony Fauci talk about the possibility of booster shots within the last 24 hours. He said they should know whether they are advisable by the end of summer. IMO there is no better authority in the world. If he says do it, I'm doing it.

I hope you're joking...  Fauci is a slave to his own greed.  I lost faith in that guy a long time ago.

From recent news coverage it sounds like annual booster shots may be a good idea.  If that's the case, I'm very much in. That makes sense to me. I get a yearly flu shot anyway, and two sticks are no more trouble than one.  That said, I salute Racer X for going through what he has.  No fun at all.

First of all... don't believe everything you see on the news.  The media is a one way street and I trust them less and less these days.  Second of all, the stupidity around the vaccine is just insane (not anyone here, I'm pointing more at the media).  The reason they have to give booster shots is because they have NOT isolated the genome necessary for a real vaccine and will continue to provide booster shots for all the variants.  Both the CDC and FDA websites have a ton of data on this subject, but you have to dig for it.  In fact, did you know that all COVID vaccines currently being used are not on the FDA's approved list?  They are experimental vaccines under a preliminary "emergency use authorization"...   I'm not a medical professional, nor am I giving advice.  I'm simply supplying a different point of view from the media and all the hype going on.

    Here's a list of approved vaccines:  https://www.fda.gov/vaccines-blood-biologics/vaccines/vaccines-licensed-use-united-states

What I am really worried about is using an experimental drug and having side effects.  I'm not so sure my insurance company covers health conditions caused by experimental/unapproved vaccines.  I'd rather take my chances than trust the political rush around this virus.  Do your own research and take the necessary steps to be ABSOLUTELY sure you want to be doing this.  You don't want to get stuck into a situation where a vaccine is pulled from the shelves (https://www.fda.gov/news-events/press-announcements/joint-cdc-and-fda-statement-johnson-johnson-covid-19-vaccine).

Good luck and stay safe, my friends.

  4. Ok thanks for checking.  I wanted to keep it enabled for desktops, but, disabled for tablets.  I think tablets are being considered the same as desktops and I'm trying to change that.  The setting must only work for phones.

    I'm on a android tablet 10.1 inch.

@EuroDat @zKars  and other tablet guys...  thanks for testing this for me.   Can you please double check to see if the sidebar is gone now?  I have an option to disable it for mobile devices and would like to know if the forum posts are now full width.  Let me know, thank you!

  6. It is interesting to see your screenshots though.  Looks like screen resolution plays a big part in how much real estate is taken up by the sidebar.  I'm going to look to see if there's a way to make it collapsable.

  7. The thread summary is pretty awesome and has a lot of detail.  It outlines a lot of information about the post in a quick format.  When it's on the sidebar, the details stand out.  However, when it's under the first post, it just doesn't have the same kind of sparkle.

    Summary on the side:

    Summary after 1st post:

  8. The items you guys talked about above are just changes due to the update I applied over the weekend.  I actually like the information bar on the right side because it acts as a summary for really long threads.  If you compare this to the old style (full width), there isn't much of a difference as far as I can tell.  Because most of the posts were so wide, the empty space was actually inside the post "box" and not outside of it.  This could be only on my machine though and I have a pretty wide monitor.  Unfortunately this new feature can only be changed in the site design -- it's not a user-configurable option.

The 'edit' button moving, well... old dogs will just have to learn a new trick.  😉

Let me know if I have to move this to another part of the forums because this is no longer a carb issue

It's ok to leave it here actually.  What first started off as a possible carb problem and turned out to be something else.  Someone else is likely to run into the same problem in the future.  Unless you want to continue the post, of course...

  10. Well I did manage to get rid of the detail menu on the right side when viewing a thread.  I don't really like it though because the menu bar had a good summary of the thread without needing to scroll through the whole thing.  It also had a summary of photos included in the thread.

BTW, @EuroDat are you browsing on a computer or a mobile device?  If a computer, are you at maximum resolution or is your zoom cranked way up?  Just asking because it doesn't seem to be a problem on my computer now that fluid width is turned on.

PS:  I also noticed the "Expand" option only works on quoted material, not all graphics.

Before it was full screen, but now Im getting thread info on right side and when you scroll down just blank grey space on the right.

Ah, yes that's the new detail bar on the right...  I'll look at options to see if we can reduce it.  Are you running full screen in that snapshot?

Hmmm... I had a bunch of comments, and then I tried a different (not obsolete) browser and most of my comments became moot. But just for posterity, here's what I found using my ancient version of IE:

    1) Pictures no longer show up in-line (at least not when you are not logged in). Now if you want to see the pics, you need to click on each one individually.

    2) No delineation around quoted material. Makes it hard to figure out what was quoted and when the quoting ends.

    3) No delineation between different posts on a thread. Makes it a little difficult to figure out where one post ends and the next one starts

On Chrome, it looks completely different and these issues went away. I know... I get what I deserve.

Yeah, old browsers just aren't up to par when it comes to browsing modern sites.  Unfortunately nothing I can do about that.

    1. This is a bandwidth reduction method.  I can turn it off but let's see how everyone gets used to it.
    2. The light theme definitely has this looking good.  I just made a change to the dark theme that should highlight quotes better.
    3. Again this must only be limited to the dark theme because the light theme looks fine.
    4. Another one related to the dark mode perhaps?  Unless all of this is related to an ancient browser...

Ohh... I see a trend here... lol

  13. That said, I think some of the colors on the dark mode setting needs some work.  I'll be going through this as I find more colors or things to make it easier to read.  If you run into anything please send a screenshot and let me know what you see or how it should look anyway.

    Hihi... yeah.. computers hey..

What i wanted to say... i work on a desktop, and.. from today all my text is on the left 3/4 of the screen, before was the text of a thread over the entire width.

No problem.. it's just getting smaller..

EDIT: and edit is under a knob in top right now.. 🙂

I just changed a setting to make the width stretch to the size of the browser window.  It should be ok now.

I think the site was offline for a little while last night. That normally makes Tapatalk ask you to login!

Ah, I was wondering because I was editing things yesterday.  if you can use dark mode now, all good....

Not you.... the $^!# software these day.

I have fire fox scaling to 67% and I can only see 5.5 Fn new topics.  I don't want to have to scroll my life away.

With fire fox at 100% scale I see just two new topics!  It sucks.  I hate the internet and modern wanker programmers.

Check it now...  the software set to a fixed width.  Now it's set to 'fluid'

So strange I tried Dark mode on my iPhone and it looked like it got signed out of the site. I’m not able to sign back into the website, it errors out. Had to close the tab, and return to the website in the lite mode and it works.

Hrrmmmm.... ok I'm checking on that.  Strange.

  17. Hi all,

For those of you who like to browse the website at night, from bed, or in a dark room -- I've added a new dark mode to the site.  This mode is easier on the eyes when browsing in these conditions.  I especially like it when I'm on my tablet and the bright backgrounds from our default page is just too much for my eyes to handle.

You can choose the dark mode by changing the "Theme" at the bottom of the page.

I've gone through most of the colors to make sure they work in this mode.  But, if you find an example of a color match that doesn't look right, please take a screenshot and reply here.  Thanks!

  18. Hi all,

I appreciate your patience as I ran through a number of updates to our site today.  The system was offline for approx 4-5 hours as I went through the system and made these updates.  There was a pretty big backlog and I ran through everything in a single swoop.  As always, please let me know if you see anything that isn't working right (or just looks funny).  Thank you!
