Z's on BAT and other places collection
Actually looks like a pretty nice car. I wonder how it got to Germany from New Mexico. They got the years mixed up somehow, showing 1976 and 1977. It has a tow hook on the front and bad rappy Amadeus style music in the 2nd video, so I'm going to assume it's a youngsters car. Maybe military? Remove some of the shiny flashy stuff and it could be nice.

The Ball Ritual
Does anybody understand the fascination with watching that thing drop to the ground in Times Square? I have vague memories of trying to figure out what everyone was looking at when I was a kid, watching it on TV (we had bad reception), but have never understood it. I just saw on the news that New York city is still planning to let a few people gather in Times Square to watch the spherical object drop to the ground. How many of us are so trained to just keep doing the goofy things we've always done, no matter what? People are strange. https://www.timessquarenyc.org/times-square-new-years-eve/nye-history-times-square-ball Looks like they're going to bring in a few "front line workers" to cover for the VIP party TV show. What a crock. https://newyork.cbslocal.com/2020/12/31/new-years-eve-times-square-2020/

MSA fuse box doesn’t fit
There are different manufacturers. Maybe the "spec" is only for the blades. Or maybe there is no spec. These guys sell low profile blade fuses. https://www.12volt.com.au/redirect.html?a=/General Htmls/webcat2003/breakers.html https://www.amazon.com/50A-Medium-Auto-Automotive-Fuse/dp/B06XDBLLDY

There are basically two choices - super expensive NOS Nissan parts, or aftermarket. In aftermarket sometimes you can find reman Nissan parts. But now you see a lot of new aluminum body parts. In all cases, take them part before installation and clean them up inside. There is often honing grit inside that will ruin the seals. All of the aftermarket choices are pretty cheap. I don't know who is really dependable anymore. https://www.rockauto.com/en/catalog/nissan,1977,280z,2.8l+l6,1209248,transmission-manual,clutch+slave+cylinder,2044

What's going on in a guy's brain to decide to put 240Z badges on a 280Z? Makes no sense at all. Plus, some of the ad copy makes you wonder, really, about how well-done it might be, logic-wise. Looks like fun though. Not sure who would pay that money for it. Probably get the same thing on BAT for 40. " - custom made COLD air intake" Edit - I went back and looked closer at that ad and I can't find a single picture or mention of how he mounted the engine. Did he use kit parts, or fabricate his own mounts? It's obviously in there but is it well done?

Admitted to hospital on the 19th, dead 10 days later. https://www.koin.com/news/louisiana-congressman-elect-luke-letlow-41-dies-of-covid-19-complications/ SHREVEPORT, La. COVID-19
Massachusetts political leader shows that intelligence is not required for leadership position. Gets hit by COVID "wicked haad" after attending WH party. Oddly, his family shows signs of intelligence. https://www.bostonglobe.com/2020/12/26/metro/state-republican-official-was-hospitalized-with-covid-19-after-attending-white-house-hanukkah-party/ " The vice chairman of the Massachusetts Republican State Committee is battling COVID-19 after attending what he described as a largely maskless holiday party at the White House earlier this month. “I didn’t listen to the warnings of my own family, and now I’m paying the price,” MassGOP vice chairman Tom Mountain said in a phone interview Saturday."

I think it was basically a miniaturized version of the original. Wherever it came from they did a poor job on it. The old heavy one was smooth as silk, the new lightweight one was buzzy and tended to wear out quickly. If I recall right the old big six was a 235. Not sure, the internet suggests a 261. https://www.enginelabs.com/news/mighty-chevrolet-stovebolt-six/

I had a 67 Camaro for a while. I thought it had a 250 straight six but maybe it was a 230. I think it had a 3 speed manual. It was actually a fun little car, kind of like a Z, with the small engine. I'd had several muscle cars before I got it, GTO's and Dodge Dart Sports, and a 63 Bonneville (muscle in a big body). The straight six was kind of neat because you could work on the lifters through a plate in the side of the block. I had a bad lifter but couldn't get it out of the bore. Eventually traded the car for a Vega and a 55 Chevy pickup truck. The 55 had the old big straight six, which was actually a super smooth running engine. Better than the later model straight six, I think. Good times... https://www.gmheritagecenter.com/docs/gm-heritage-archive/vehicle-information-kits/Camaro/1967-Chevrolet-Camaro.pdf

How many editions are there per year? I thought it went 1970, 1971, 1972, etc. Not clear what you're saying.

Definitely an interesting part of the country. Pretty sure I heard banjo music. There are/were coking ovens you could see on the hillsides on the way down the river. I was an intern at a chemical plant for a summer and some of the local guys showed me what people did for fun in the Valley. Pretty cool. Wasn't really prepared for the Bud Light at 6 am though.

Did you get extras? Barbs, filter, etc? Interested in how it comes out, it's rare for a manufacturer like Walbro to create their own sales platform. Usually they just let Summit or Amazon or Rockauto do it for them. In this case it looks like a great idea, there's too many options and no easy way to get what you want. They made it easy.

Bosch probably makes good quality. Hard to say these days. But that pump doesn't have barbs for the hoses, it's made for Ford fuel lines. You want barbs on the high pressure side. I think the threaded end is outlet so you could probably find one. The Walbro site offers free shipping, after you pick exactly what fittings you want and a filter. You get the complete package. If I was looking for a new pump I'd probably go that route, plus SteveJ is using one and likes it. But, really, your biggest issue is probably going to be the waiting. Shipping will be slow, especially now, if the USPS gets involved. If you want to get going soon, you'll probably end up at a parts store. This Amazon list shows you all of the wrecking yard cars that might have a $20 used cheapy though. https://www.amazon.com/Bosch-69100-Original-Equipment-Replacement/dp/B000BZIC90

People loaded a bunch of new videos on to the BAT listing. The BAT bidding battle has begun. Here's a good one. And this one.

Walbro probably makes a good product. Stock motor people should be looking at the GSL393 though, not the 392. It's even pretty cheap. If you like Walbro quality that would be a good one maybe. I don't know much about Walbro myself. Go to the last link and you can see that they have a pretty good checkout procedure. You can get barbs and filters to fit from the start. Looks pretty good. https://walbrofuelpumps.com/walbro-gsl-series-universal-inline-fuel-pumps https://walbrofuelpumps.com/walbro-gsl393-fuel-pump.html

On the Walbro - people get that pump sometimes because they need the rate or sometimes because it's the cool pump to have. But it flows twice what the stock pump flows and often makes noise because it can't pull that rate through the inlet side. Walbro 255 LPH = 67 GPH I think that the stock pump and the typical aftermarket pumps flow about 30 GPH.

I used an Airtex E8312 for about 30,000 miles with no issues. Typical rubber mounting, quiet, lasted. It was $99 when I bought it but now they're cheaper on Rockauto and Amazon. But OReilly sells a different brand now. I think a lot of these pumps are actually the same pump, with a different seller. Look at the pictures. https://www.rockauto.com/en/catalog/nissan,1976,280z,2.8l+l6,1209226,fuel+&+air,fuel+pump,6256 https://www.amazon.com/Airtex-E8312-Electric-Fuel-Pump/dp/B000DT7Y7K/ref=sr_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=AIRTEX+E8312&qid=1609186230&sr=8-1
