  1. If you're panels aren't cut then I would just install 6x9's in a box from MSA and call it good. Those doorpanles are $300 smackers each to replace... not worth it to me. But if you would like I can take pics of mine... the Clarion grilles are simple and tasteful. They look much better than the old Pioneers they replaced.
  2. Hey! Car stereo instalation is easy... that's why there are so many hacks out there doing it at these box stores. YOU can do a better job in an hour or so in your own driveway... and learn some more about your car too. A few years back I purchased a Clarion CD/MP3 player with built in flash memory... you can record music to the stereo... for about $100 brand new on ebay. The Pioneer installed by the PO was just old and tired... unfortuantely they hacked up the plastic trim that goes around the stereo and what was left was quite brittle. So in the attached photos the stereo isn't dressed up as pretty as it should be. The PO had also hacked up the doors and door panels to install a couple of 4" pioneers. I also found a set of new Clarion 4" speakers on ebay for about $40. This set up is to hold me over until I do my full rebuild when I will go a little crazier... think single DIN GPS with XM and iPod controls and a couple 6x9's in the hatch. Anyway my point is eBay. This was originally a $350 radio and the speakers originally retailed around $75. Deals can be had on new items just because the stuff is 1 or 2 model years old. It's easy to do and there are plenty of us on here that can answer Q's.
  3. I think it would be worth the extra money you will make to get the car to running/driving condition first. Look at this way... If you paid $3k and it ran then, what would you have paid for a non running car. That being said, running and rust free to the naked eye and passes the "pull the carpet back" test then you could fetch $5k-ish here on the east coast. I can't stop for gas without 1 or 2 people coming up to me and telling me they haven't seen a 240 in ages. Sorry to hear that you are parting with your Z. Best of Luck.
  4. She's coming along nicely Jared! It will be amazing when completed. Intresting touch with the SR20... my personal choices don't revolve around turbos or 4 bangers, but it will definetly haul some serious arse! I have a 1:18 (?) scale 240 diecast that has an SR20 under the hood... maybe I can make it up to Knoxville to see one in real life once your done. Keep the updates coming!
  5. HAHA! I like your hypothesis!
  6. We call 'em Ditch Lobster! I really don't like Corona but I know others do... for that style I prefer Sol... but with Mexican / Tex-Mex I usually choose XX Amber.
  7. No, that's not normal. Somewhere along the way many Americans started saying Guinness (with 2 n's) should be served room temp... according to the wonderful folks at St James Gate Dublin, Ireland where the beautiful dark ruby beverage is brewed it should be served cold. Attached is a pic of me at the 7th floor "Gravity Bar" at the Guinness Storehouse and museum... that's downtown Dublin through the windows. I made my pilgrimage back in the summer of '06. That's the second pint and it was as delicious as the first! Notice the condensation/fog on the glass. A good first beer... I recommend a lighter flavored beer and enjoy it with a complimenting food. ie: Miller Lite with burgers or Corona with -insert your favorite Mexican food here-. I also recommend starting with lagers then moving to ales and eventually into porters... like Guinness. Damn it... now I have to go get some Guinness. By the way... if you like Guinness you'll LOVE Beamish!
  8. I passed my micro-brew and niche phase awhile back ago... now it's mainly Sam Adams Boston Lager or Miller Lite when I want something light and watery . My absolute favorite is Sam Adams Octoberfest unfortunately it's only available for a few months each year.
  9. I concur 100%.
  10. Ummm... cool. So that's you and all, but what about your Z? Pics? Plans? Welcome the group.
  11. Welcome! What plans do you have for your ZX?
  12. FWIW, I prefer the gray, but "to each their own". I used duplicolor Storm Gray "Truck, van and SUV" paint on my tail light finishers and front grille. Very close to original color, easy to clean, inexpensive and readily available. The gray panel looks sweet with the gunmetal panasports!
  13. Toyotas and Hondas aren't even allowed to park in my drivewayLOL DD: 2007 Frontier Crew Cab SE Long Bed 4x4 w/ 6 spd Wife's Ride: 2005 Sentra 1.8S (S.E.) Love the Volvo 1800 (The Saint ) but my favorite pictured car so far is Five&Dime's orange 510... so sexy!!!
  14. Well, I gotta know what's under the visor now!!!
  15. Pretty sure it's an air (smog) pump. That's the same location as on my '72...
  16. No stripes... and replace those clear turn signals w/ amber... just my opinion. I like the ride height and wheels, Konigs?
  17. The project has stalled a bit... I transferred yet again, and I've a bunch of other things going on so this has taken a back seat, but I'm still very interested in it. A 2.8 / 3.0 may be an option in the future (read: retired from military and stable in one location) but is impractical right now as previously stated. Code3Z - I sent you a PM... I'm in your neck of the woods for the rest of the week. Nate

  19. Guess I'm off to Wal-mart!
  20. Because they look so damn good! Others may have some input regarding original Watanabes, Panasports or Mini Lites... but my take is purely from a cosmetic/asthetic point of view.
  21. David- Well, I'm here, but our house isn't quite finished and we close on the 21st. So the move isn't quite over but so far so good. Asheville is gorgeous and close to the dragon... so it won't be hard to get me up that way Also not far from the BMW plant in Spartanburg. I'm starting to get an idea for a "Carolinas Meet and Greet"...
  22. Mike- Great to hear... we'll have to get together on one of these upcoming weekends. I'm looking to have the body and paint work done in the near future and I'd love to see your Z and hear about any shops that you would recommend.
  23. Nice... good to see some more SC folks. I also found your site... www.upstatezclub.com
  24. Thanks. Yup, not too far away... about 3 hours... and close to the BMW plant. Columbia is a good half way point. Just thinking out loud a bit... maybe there could be some interest in a South Carolina Z mailing list or even a club. Don't want to get ahead of myself or anything. I know that there are places to visit and things to do all over the state which could be a good time when paired up with other Z entusiasts. The BMW plant in Spartanburg, Michelin test facility in Laurens and Darlington Speedway. Either way it will be good to see who else is around and do a little networking that way we can help each other find that hard to find part
  25. Any other members in Charleston, SC area? How about The Carolinas in general? Georgia? Wasn't their a Z club or two in theses parts back in the day? Piedmont or Triangle or something like that IIRC? I've noticed some Savannah, GA residents on here before... Hi Will! I've also seen Greer, SC and Asheville, NC too. It would be nice to connect with some other Classic Z folks and maybe arrange some get togethers through out the year. I'm in Charleston myself... more specifically Goose Creek, near the NWS.
