Does anyone have a recommendation about which seat upholstery kits I should go with in my '73z?
  3. I will contact him as far as putting some of his work on the site.
  4. I found an outfit in Palmdale / Lancaster, California area that is willing to get involved with the club. He is wanting to refurbish "Z" bumpers and accessories. I took a bumper to him, to have straightened, rubber mount strip holes welded shut, triple nickel chrome finish to show quality for $350.00. I have looked around for this kind of quality in the SoCal area, online and even some recommended shops. The average cost has been between $950.00 to $1375.00 for a complete bumper set and I have been somewhat unimpressed with the well known outfits customer service and quality. I talked at length with the owner and he might be willing to cut a volume deal or setup a club discount if we can justify enough usage. If any one is interested please let me know. He also added he is willing to ship worldwide as he does for some U.K. customers. - Tom
  5. All nissan dealers stock or can get them.
  6. Bumper Boyz in L.A. Will Do your bumpers (front and rear) for around $700 talk to Carlos Jr. and tell him you want the smoothies for your"Z". They are the premier show plating outfit in So Cal. I tried other places to do the same work, average $ was $1055.00 or more.
  7. Lowest price auto glass in Bakersfield Was able to get them for $99.00 installed. Rear hatch without heater strips was $89.99.Shop around shipping on large glass items sucks.
  8. I know of a couple of places in the Lancaster / Palmdale area that are modified freindly........For a small donation.

  11. I was given a perfect '70 521 over the weekend. It was stored since '81 in a factory building. I was looking it over to replace 1600 motor with my extra 280 motor but that pesky firewall and tiny tranny bump would be quite an obstacle to overcome. My 6 year old asked "Dad, can I have a V8?". Then it hit me, I said "I think it could work but what set-up would we use?" after a puzzled look he reminded me that the juice was in the house. Anyway do any of you "Z"experts have any suggestions on how's, why's, or am I just dreaming.
  12. I am curious how well your Holley works.

Thanks for your input. I am still trying to figure this out. last night I blew thru all the hard lines on the frame and did a visual inspection as well no blockages found. The '87 Sentra emissions manual is of no help. Keep thinking. - Tom
  15. My "Z" project is coming along fine. My daily driver is being a bit obstinate. I have a '87 sentra it seems to run fine until you shut it off in hot weather only. The fuel in the filter sucks back into the tank only when the temp is above 100. I have replaced fuel cap, all lines, fuel pump, purge canister and control valve, fuel filter and tank screen. It appears that the car starts and will run until all of the fuel in the carb bowl is used. I have to prime the carb six or seven time for the fuel to get back to the filter, then the car runs great until I shut it off again if it is still hot. If it is cool or in the evening the problem doesn't happen. I also tried to run with the fuel cap off, no difference. I would appreciate any thoughts on this problem. Stinkin' Mojave desert.

  19. I can't make out the wiring diagrams in the stupid Haynes book. I am wanting to add the electronic ignition from the ZX I gutted. I have the engine harness out of the '73 and I want to add wiring if necessary. Also what if any components are necessary to ensure proper operation and tach ops. I have swapped out the engine (less the EFI, I'm sick I like my SU's) and I could use some guidence. I have read some other posts on this subject but have come up short.
  20. Thanks for your inputs on the smog. Is the PCV system required for efficient ops? I have been told that it removes gasses that could cause corrosion or oil break down.
  21. I am currently in the process of swapping out my '73 hybrid motor (stuff from whatever) with a '81 ZX motor , 5 speed and 4.11 rear end. I am keeping carbs instead of EFI. I will be using header type system for exhaust w/2 1/4". my question is what is the necessity of the PCV and smog equipment? I have studied various posts and articles but, have not come up with a definitive solution as to remove or leave. What impacts can I look to incur if I remove smog system. I have looked at various PCV diagrams and have noticed some of you have installed a breather filter, I would have to have to assume that the PCV valve was left going to the block vent. Also is it necessary to leave the tank pressurizing system hooked up? I would greatly appreciate any feedback. -Tom - stranded in California City.
  22. Hello folks, I am seeking info on replacing my '73 240z 4-speed. I currently live in the cultural desert that is California City and have nobody into z cars. My local salvage yard has a complete 260 and a partial 280 both have 4-speed trannys. What year 5-speed tranny would fit into my '73? If any one has one for sale drop me a line. (760) 373-2086 or mandtw@ccis.com. If anyone needs parts from the z's in salvage, holler. Thanks for your time -Tom Wolfe
