  1. Grant Products (the steering wheel people) makes a steering wheel hub that allows you to remove your steering wheel, and lock a cover in its place. http://www.grantproducts.com/grant.fm$retrieve?seqnum=131203&html=grantdetail
  2. I haven't seen those in any catalog for years.
  3. Will- Two of the fuse link circuits gan be ganged together, and it would work, but the links are there for electrical safety, so I wouldn't recommend it. I agree the wiring should be straighted up at the least. Those black plastic covers do look out of place too. It depends on the owner's priorities- looks or function. thx

I got my dash cap(from Too-Instense. IIRC), and the dimmer & odo-reset holes were only slightly off, but everything else was fine. Too bad you can't make those so the speedo & tach will come out; I take mine off about once or twice a year to put in new bulbs. Getting the dimmer & odo-reset knobs to stick on is the difficult thing.
  5. You kidding (about the stopsign stuff?) Last week, a guy (in an SUV of course) tried to push in my pasenger door because he decided to forego the stop signs, probably because he couldn't leave 3 minutes earlier for work. ( I was 15 minutes early, as usual.) Then he followed me down the street, and HAD to stop at the next sign because I was in front. Then he decided to flash his lights, drive around me (blocking the other lane,) flip me off, then just about bash another car getting onto the main street. He even went through the red light that's there too. He doesn't deserve to drive; maybe somebody will steal the SUV on a rainy day whe he's in a rush to a big business deal. Oh yeah- if you don't pull up and ONTO to the crosswalk at a light, somebody will pull in front of you.
  6. Walter- I-71 in either diection on about any day is like a bullet train. Any vehicle on the left lane must be doin 71, minimum, most are 80. I thought 71 was was highway number. And don't forget I-480, where that's the speed minimum (80) in any lane. I'm told in Florida that the ziper-method is supposed to be state law? From experience, I see it all the time in crowded parking lots, and it seems to work. I'm in favour if leaving about 1/2 car length space every 3 or 4 cars at the light. It gets the entire line of cars up to speed faster. thx

If you win the thing, and you get the $200,000 , then I suppose you can afford some more bodywork, and maybe even refresh the whole car, except for the F-150 and the TransAm, which are fairy new anyway, and would just need some paint on the front. I'm surprised none of the csars has a bra on the front.

Don't forget the next show of Bull Run is tomorrow, Tuesday night at 10pm ET on Spike TV.

Hitch hiker's guide? I like to watch road rallies, lemans or European Touring car racing better. They turn both ways. Or yacht racing even- except for the big black kiwi boat that keeps winning all the time. Tom- At first it looked like rice. After you look into it some, you can see there's purpose behind all that stuff ( or at least they think so.) hopefully, one day, they will learn to do more than just go around in circles.

I don't have anything againt the looks of the cars. They can race in soapboxes if they want to. We will have to wait and see how things are at the end of the season, or a year from now. The first thought I had, seeing the first pictures, was that they were going to try front wheel drive cars with all the ricer stuff on it.
  12. Complicated? I was just referring him to what Enrique had stated a while ago. And I always make things more simple, the car is complicated enough.

All we need now is Mel Gibson & Tina Turner as a raceteam...
  14. Astrohog, Look up Enrique's wiring diagram in post #19, and it should help you hook up your automatic antenna to a regular switch. Note, that method uses a toggle switch, not a rocker switch.

Webdawg1- What's the diameter of that cover you have? When I got my '78 280Z, there wasn't anything like that under the luggage lid. There was only the mini-spare, with the T-bolt sticking up, the jack, and the tools. Do you have a picture of the spare with the cover on it? thxZ

As for not being stock cars, the same goes for those "trucks" which aren't trucks, but cars with a longer & flatter rear deck. For real truck racing, go to Europe, where they modify real trucks and race those, although they won't be going 100+ MPH, but real racing, IMO, is NOT about outright speed, it's about strategy & maneuvering, and sometimes luck. You might be better off with drifting or street racing... or lawnmower racing :lick: On the other hand... If it's supposed to be the "car of tomorrow" why aren't they racing with fuel cells? If you can go the 500 miles (or 400 even!) you Win! I'd like to see a hydrogen cell go up after a rear-ender. thx

These things look a lot like rice to me! :hurt: Here: is an interesting article also here
  18. I was considering the window-mounted antenna, but I don't think you can take those off, like for car shows. I don't think cutting the wire on the magnetic antennas is recommended either ( I'd only need about 5 feet for my Z with the 3 foot adapter.) So unless you have a moustache and drive a black Trans Am, having a CB antenna on your car at a car show might not look right. thx
  19. Ads anm experiment, I tried the headset from my house phone in my talkabout FRS radio, and it worked. The plug was a little loose tho. I will have to try itout on the road. Enigma- You might want to look into this antenna adapter cord: http://www.walcottcb.com/firestik-kar3-pl259-to-bnc-female-adapter-cord-p-815.html?Your_Store_Name=Firestik_KAR3_PL-259_to_BNC_Female_Adapter_Cord thx
  20. For sale: Spoiler, $18,000.00 Comes with free included Datsun 240Z...
  21. The onlt time I have a cup of something in my car is when I stop at the McD's on the home. It's only temporary, so the ashtray itself will hold the tall plastic cup of soda, or a small paper cup of O.J. for the 3 minutes it takes to drive home. Never hot mugs of coffee- drink those before you leave! If you really need a cupholder- get the one that hangs on the window...
  22. Somewhere, there's a jet-powered truck, with nothing on it to hold it down when it goes. Factory option? Do you mean from the Kenworth factory?
  23. Darn, he changed the price to $8,500. If got that $85,000 he originally had, he could have gotten himself a new camera. $85,000 for the first hundred 240Z cars? Sounds like a terific deal! Did he ask Chris (26th) first, if he could sell his car?
  24. Just in case Rick, caravanning in the U.S. is when people are travelling in a group of cars or trucks (a convoy.) At least that's the definition in this context. John- That Cobra CB is pretty cool, but I prefer not to put anything under the seat that can't aford to get wet, like an umbrella or the plastic coffee mug. Since you usually just tune to one channel for your trip, about any handheld CB should do, and I'll be using a speakermic to keep things uncluttered. I got a Midland 75-875, which is rather small, and I tjink it'll do well after I get the appropriate antenna adapter for the outside antenna (one with a rather flexible cord, about a meter long.) thx
  25. You're right Rick, People on this side of the big pond need to learn more about speaking English. There's a big gap between all the more important things. Like I'll bet people in the U.S. think a Lorry is a girl! "Tea" is something you drink with your eggroll, a pint is 1/2 a quart, and a quid is squid spelled in a mal-functioning keyboard, not to mention all the words that were screwed up over time, like hurricane (furcane) and barbeque (barabecoa.) thx
