It is one of those things that i have been hunting down and finally got one, loads of pics here. I was suppose to get one from member "jcote" but it never worked out, he might still have it. Chris
  2. This story got a happy ending, i was able to borrow the missing parts, got my Zed up running today and had the first ride in a car i purcased nearly two years ago:ermm:, it runs like crap and thats just a ignition timing problem i have to solve and i also have to get rid of all that US smog hardware mumbo jumbo crap, i just got a balance tube welded up and cleaned, ready to be installed:D Chris

Definitely a treasure, thanks to a members pile of iron i got my Z out running, i was missing flywheel bolts and oil drain plug, probably junk to many but very hard parts to come by here and indeed needed. Take some photos, put it up in classifieds with a asking price and you will for sure help someone, maybe even me. Chris

I just had one welded up as well looks cleaner and more original. http://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/4pLX8Uzavks7Cor4LZwefw?authkey=Gv1sRgCJy0tdDTvabzzwE&feat=directlink Looking for metric bolts, we have it, just let me know and i can help. Chris
  5. Nothing vrong in bolt on/off upgrades after my opinion as long as it is bolt on/off when converting it back to original. What is the actual problem with you L28, except of the cam, is the block / head cracked, have you drained the oil? if so poor it up in a clear jug, that will give you an idea of how much water there is in the oil when it seperate. When you put that motor in storage, did it then have anti freze to protect against corrosion, or were it w/o water and dry. I'm not saying don't go V8, but it doesn't have to be that expensive to get that L28 up running. Chris
  6. Could be a aftermarked cam, bad steel, have a original Nissan cam re ground an off you go. Chris

Lars Peter, i'm pretty sure that i will be there at saturday, i will give you a call before i leave home, i just got hold of the missing parts for lent, so i will be able to move on, i got hold of Stefan Wingquist who was kind enough to lent me flywheel bolts and oil plug, if you don't kow who he is then have a look at this: http://zclub.net/forum/rally-race/10448-copenhagen-classic-car-cup.html its a interesting write up and i think you all should make the time to read it. Chris

Lars Peter, i'm currently trying to track down some 7" headlights with integreted parking light, if i don't get hold of some i have to make use of your solution, what store was it, is it a member of a store chain?. If i'm lucky to have the missing parts on friday i will be at the shop in the weekend, you can then drop by and kick some tires if you got the time. Chris
  10. What Arne said also check that the oblong grove is towards left of the location notch according to fig. EM-64 in the FSM. Didn't you state in #1 that your mechanis is a special Z shop !!.... he should know this. Chris

It all depends, Duplicolor is like 25 bucks a can, but the other day i found a sale with satin black among other colors, the price was 6 bucks for two rattle cans and satin black is not everyone have around here. Among the other colors was the one i have used on my block, i think it is pretty close to the original, it works for me. Chris
  12. Your timing marker should look like this and point to the first grove from left on the pulley at TDC Chris
  13. This is what i would do: Study the manual, find out witch hose that goes where and then probably have the answer, can't help you more than that. Chris
  14. You can start by looking at this http://www.xenons30.com/files/FSM/1978%20280z%20FSM.zip or wait until one knowing the 280Z chimes in. Chris

Esprist, you don't know the price of paint and grease here:classic: Lars Peter, i have a factory manual you can have a look in or you can download it here: http://www.xenons30.com/files/FSM/1973%20240z%20FSM.zip And while i have you, can you then tell me where you got those small front parking lights from. Chris
  18. Ain't that just great, i really appreciate it, thanks, please let me have a total and a PayPal for you, so i can send you some bucks. Fingers crossed that i will have it on Friday. You are maybe right about the weight of the mermaid, so i have to think about something new, what about some stincky strong Danish cheese......., i guess not. I have to lock my self up and do some thinking. Thanks again and also to all the rest of you that chimed in. Chris
  19. Sean, please post a photo of your timing mark and front pulley, there are two different kinds and they don't mix up. I don't know of Paltech, but if your car have sat for a while your crappy gas will make the chokes stick and the car running rich, try to clean it up with some acetone so everything moves freely, if you grab your choke at the bottom of the carb and pull it down it should move up freely, do the needles have a satin look ? and is your nozzles out of round and what about the float level, is it adjusted correct. Chris
  20. Do you fancy the little mermaid If not i will have to think of something else. Chris
  21. Did you or did you not get new pistons/rings recently ? Chris
  22. Bruce i wish it was the case, i have called around to many parts stores today and nothing, i really don't believe it either, but that's just how it is in this little shite country. How many flywheel bolt sizes can there really be among all car brands ? i guess most of them have 10 or 12 millimeter and all have a fine tread. For a L series flywheel it is 12x27 thread is 1.25, drain plug is 16.4 tread 1.33, yes i have looked it up:) When it comes to cars i really envie you guys over there, i really do, yes i can have it shipped for a "small" fee, but our costum roules they suck. Chris
  23. Your the man Stan When you have a shipping price, then let me know and provide me with our PayPal. Thanks Chris
  24. Great thanks, PM send I'm sure i will need other parts in the future, but that can wait, just need to get this car ready in 4 weeks. It will soon be 2 years since i bought the car, it have been waiting on shipping for a year and half, being that i had to get the block bored and find 2 roadsters, so i have had enough time to source parts if i only had known of the loss of them. Chris
  25. Great Arne thanks so far, any changes i let you know. Others ??.... Chris
