  1. I don't think it will fit in a '72 either. It was laying in the back cargo area of the '72. I found some other misc Z parts that didn't come from the '72 but wasn't able to find another 240 in the yard. Looks like someone might have been waiting for a half price sale but why stash them in another sought after car? Oh well, I'm just glad they did. I pulled a cherry fuse block from the 72's dash and installed it into my '73 240Z. Thanks for responding. I'll see what it brings on eBay.
  2. I found this in the back of a '72 at a Pick'n'Pull. It has the long pig tail so I'm thinking it is 25410-E4600 Assy Fuse Block "Up-To" 12/70 but I can't find any numbers on the assembly. I pulled the fuse block from the '72 and it fit perfectly in mine. Thanks in advance for the assistance.
  3. Wow, a blast from the past. There used to be Uniroyle Tiger Paw television commercials on the tube quite a bit back in the '70's.

Do a search on the subject and you should find the information. I'd have to look it up myself to help you but one thing that will lessen future problems is to use one of Zs-ondabrain's wiring harnesses I have a '73 myself and had a similar problem. In fact the wire (I don't remember the color) had been repaired in the past with a crappy soldering job. The plastic cover was pressing down on a big solder glob and after what was probably years of heating and cooling plus the plastic becoming brittle with age, a small round piece of plastic broke or chipped away from the rest of the plastic. I re-soldered the wire, fixed the plastic the best I could and ordered one the wiring harnesses which is plug and play - won't butcher your existing harness. The heating problem is lessoned to a great extent because the current for the lights is no longer running through the light switch on your steering column. Less current equals less heat. A more detailed explanation can be found elsewhere in the forum. At $125 the harness is well worth it though.
  5. I'm tempted to buy a set on Craigslist for $200 and re-sell them on eBay after hearing that a set went for almost $1,000 but.... "Then again, my stuff never sells on eBay as high as other folks' stuff does... " They're going for $250 on CL in Santa Rosa, CA. if anyone wants them.

Aren't the stub axles also referred to as half shafts and isn't the half shaft that slips into the differential on the passenger side 1/4 inch longer than the driver side in an R200 diff which is what most 280Z's came with? I'm still very much the novice but am learning so if I'm wrong, go easy! Cheers, Roy
  8. Pir0San, I'm at work and lunch is almost over so didn't have time to read this entire post. I don't know if you still need the diff or not but... ...there is a 1972 240Z with an R180 available from PicknPull in the Bay Area. You're close enough that it might be doable for me to get it for you and meet you half way one of these weekends or you can drive all the way & pick it up from me in the evening - if you're in a hurry. About the only thing left on the car after I got through with it is the diff, engine (somebody beat me to the carbs ), the passenger side door, fender& light bucket, and the hood - in case you know anyone needing one of those. Regards, Roy
  9. Did you get the part from sblake01? I found a '72 in a junkyard that the vultures hadn't feasted on. Of course I "lovingly dismantled" her. Anyway, I saw but didn't take the part you're looking for. I can try to make it out there if you need it or want a spare. It's yours for whatever it costs me at the junkyard plus postage. Cheers, Roy
  10. Thanks for the response. Original is nice but not that important to me. Feel free to make an offer Efhjr.

This sounds like good deal if you have a place to store it while you're working on it. 72 datsun 240z shell and fiberglass flares - $1500 (pacifica) Reply to: sale-454353337@craigslist.org Date: 2007-10-20, 2:13AM PDT i have a 240z shell, meaning no motor,trans,interior.etc. basically a rolling chassis. the body kit is a 280yz/subtle z combo from reaction research. cost $2000. i am selling the car, 2 rearends, the body kit, and many misc. parts for 1500 obo. motivated seller, shoot me an offer, but please don't waste my time. i know what this stuff is worth. i have a flatbed trailer and i can deliver the car. I wonder how much money he sank into it? 1962 Ferrari 250 GTO replica project car - $3900 (dublin / pleasanton / livermore) Reply to: sale-451932051@craigslist.org Date: 2007-10-17, 3:35PM PDT Built on '72 Datsun 240Z chassis. Very strong 280ZX motor w/ Nissan Motorsports big bore kit (3.1 l displacement) professionally built by D&S Motors of Detroit. Head by Rebello Racing. Triple sidedraft Weber 45DCOE carbs. Electronic ignition. Five speed tranny and matching dif from 280Z. Four caliper front discs, aluminum radiator, aluminum fuel cell. Recarro style seats, Kenwood stereo w/ 10 disc changer. yada yada yada.... Here's the problem...I crashed the front end and the frame needs minor straightening and the nosepiece needs to be rebonded and hood repaired and reattached. So if you are good w/ fiberglass and have access to a frame machine you can have a copy of what has been described as the quintessential Ferrari. Or you can yank the drivetrain and drop it in your Z car and kick serious butt. Since I spent over eight years building and refining her, I'd prefer the former, but since it's your money it's your choice. Reply by email w/ contact information.

    Again, my condolences.
  14. There are off a 1972 240Z. The car was brown but someone rattle-canned it a light primer gray. I got them to install on my 1973 240Z. I'm not looking to part with them but am curious to know what they're worth (ballpark). Thanks

Sorry to hear that. Is it salvageable?
  16. While it might not be quite as pristine as the one on eBay, I think I'm getting a pretty good deal on this one. I can think of a lot of things to do with the $43,250.00 I'm saving too! http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?t=28299

How could a '73 240Z be worth $45,000? If it had $40,000 cash in the cargo area... Seriously, a very nice car but not worth it to me.
  18. John, Thanks. I'll keep that in mind. I have to get the 240Z on the road first. I'm almost done with the rear (bushings, springs, struts, R200, etc) and am ready to tackle the front (bushings, springs, struts, swap SU's, new exhaust). Then I can think about AC! Roy
  19. I know you're a long way from Oakland but figured someone closer might stumble onto the post and see this. http://sfbay.craigslist.org/eby/pts/447739718.html 1981 datsun 280zx complete motor, runs great recently rebult - $300 (oakland east) Reply to: sale-447739718@craigslist.org Date: 2007-10-12, 10:56PM PDT complete datsun motor , took it out because i'm doin a v8 conversion and i'm low on funds, $300 obo must sell.
  20. I gave in to temptation and am picking it up tomorrow. I was searching through the Parts Swapping portion to see if there was information about swapping the dealer installed AC out of the 260Z and installing it into my 240Z when I ran across v12horse's signature & thought it was cool. Now if I can only get my girlfriend to understand! "A real sports car chooses its owner because it has a soul. If you're chosen, you'll love it, and the more it requires care and maintenance the more you love it." -Mr. Morita (Z432 owner) :
  21. That's what I thinking. If I buy this one I'll start looking for an Orange 280Z to go with my Orange 240 and the Orange 260!
  22. During the 70's I lived in Texas near Corpus Christi on the coast of the Gulf of Mexico. The high humidity was rough on cars. I agree with Sailor Bob that CA and AZ cars are probably your best bet.
  23. These are from the ad. I didn't take any of the usual rust areas but I didn't see any major rust.
  24. I know I wouldn't drive it for long "as is" before installing carbs from a 72 or earlier with the intention of finding an L28 to go into it as soon as I could scrounge one.
