Jan-Bruce wants to tell you where to go.......You should be able to get them from Thuroughbred.
  2. Cool.Glad they worked out.I just picked up a set of 3.88s to replace the 4.37s in the truck.SHould be about perfect.Don't forget they had mileage & emissions & warrantee crap to worry about. If your OD is .864,then here is your RPM scale: Engine Speed (RPM) Speed (MPH) 8000 RPM 186.12 MPH 7500 RPM 174.49 MPH 7000 RPM 162.86 MPH 6500 RPM 151.23 MPH 6000 RPM 139.59 MPH 5500 RPM 127.96 MPH 5000 RPM 116.33 MPH 4500 RPM 104.69 MPH 4000 RPM 93.06 MPH 3500 RPM 81.43 MPH 3000 RPM 69.80 MPH 2500 RPM 58.16 MPH 2000 RPM 46.53 MPH 1500 RPM 34.90 MPH 1000 RPM 23.27 MPH And back to topic, this is the scale with the 3.90s: Engine Speed (RPM) Speed (MPH) 8000 RPM 176.58 MPH 7500 RPM 165.54 MPH 7000 RPM 154.51 MPH 6500 RPM 143.47 MPH 6000 RPM 132.43 MPH 5500 RPM 121.40 MPH 5000 RPM 110.36 MPH 4500 RPM 99.33 MPH 4000 RPM 88.29 MPH 3500 RPM 77.25 MPH 3000 RPM 66.22 MPH 2500 RPM 55.18 MPH 2000 RPM 44.14 MPH 1500 RPM 33.11 MPH 1000 RPM 22.07 MPH
  3. Todd not to "one-up" you but......http://www.wallaceracing.com/Calculators.htm I take it you like the gears?

The OP is in Kalifornia. It is ILLEGAL to remove ANY smog gear.It must be on the vehicle & working. The only exemption comes is from the testing. And the smog pump does nothing.

I just did all the dash lights in the 620.Some of the factory dash bulbs that are listed as drawing 3.4 watts, now draw .27 watts.Start adding them up and it makes a difference.

Leon-you're like a sundial at night Before you cut teh weld, put the hanger in a oven heated to 1300 degrees first. Then see what happens.

1)Because then i'd be wrong-and i'm not. 2)In your world,it's a fact. But here on earth-it isn't. 3)Catagorically false. As long as there is proper port alignment, whether the flange is solid or cut is completely 100% irrelevant. 4)On the contrary.

Some synchros don't like synthetic oil....period.
  9. Z train posted a post in a topic in Help Me !!
In order for it to be true,EVERY single header on the planet would have to be made with a solid(continuous)flange.THis is simply not true.
  10. Z train posted a post in a topic in Help Me !!
SInce i just got done listing all the makers that don't use "solid" flanges-why would you say that? Steve-glad it sealed for you.

It is not bad advice. It is an option.Your statement that the "structure is compromised" shows your lack of experience and utter lack of understanding how things work. Eagle,Hedman,Thorley and others have used the split flange design since the 60's.This is not a hack approach,it is not borne of desperation,it is common manufacturing technique. The OP needs to make the decision how much time & $$.I personally don't like the way they look based just on the appearance of the "head side of the flange".
  12. Z train posted a post in a topic in Help Me !!
Same type(flange wise) that is on my turbo car.Since there is a bolt on each side of each tube(sans the 3& 4 tube)Cutting the flange will have no ill effects. And since header makers do INDEED make flanges of this type,it is not desperation but rather another design that has been in existance for 45+ years. Now if you want to discuss the right way to do it,that involves stripping, straightening and re-coating.
  13. Z train posted a post in a topic in Help Me !!
Sorry, but there is no correlation between cut flanges and them working loose.
  14. Z train posted a post in a topic in Help Me !!
Push comes to shove, cut the flange between 1&2 and 5 &6.One thing i don't like is i can't see any "build up" around the tube to seal against teh gasket. No mater what you're gonna need some "Ultra Copper" to seal things right.
  15. Have you tried the dealer for the pin? BTW-in my best Bartyls & James voice:Thanks for your consideration.
  16. With the seat out and on your back;),you shouldn't have an issue.I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that the pins from all the models should work. OH,it's 79 here today.
  17. Wanna go halves? Sorry-couldn't resist. BTW-ONE of the bolts that holds the pedasl in( i forget which one) has REVERSE threads.
  18. Have another kid.:stupid:

Fastchick, why the idea might have merit, the money would be better spent switching to Megasquirt.

Do you wan to rebuild your motor at 75,000 miles or 275,000 miles? And for the record i saw a friend go past the 1000 ft mark in a 8.90 car BACKWARDS because of a FRAM filter let go. FRAM is GARBAGE

Are you adding zinc?BTW-Seafoam is a better product.
  24. Z train posted a post in a topic in Help Me !!
Your car has points and carbs-right?
  25. Z train posted a post in a topic in Engine & Drivetrain
Fastchick-Seafoam is the ticket for your crud.......in your engine....in your car. Wix is probably the best filter out there. It's all i use on the Datsuns and my Cummins.
