  2. What a race ! I arrived on a rainy Sunday morning on top of the hills just above Clermont-Ferrand. The city was there, somewhere under the clouds, I could almost ear the noise of the Michelin headquarter and factory. But I was there for something else, of greater importance. One of my friend and fellow club member was racing his genuine ex-Nissan work car in the 6 hours of Charrade. The race belong to the French historical vehicle competition championship, and my friend attend all the races he can. Close competition to the little red devil, from Porsches (lots) to Lolas and Ford GT40. Like usual, the big engines went on to run their race ahead of the pack, but at the end the gap between the leader and the Z was of only 12 minutes… after 6 hours. We had everything from light rain to pace car… and the team made the most of the refuelling and pilots swapping, saving and gaining precious time, like the pro! It was a real joy to look at this car, unknown here, racing monsters and, managing for the third time this year, to win their class and finishing 6th overall, and first on GTS. Hat down “les Miroux” it was the best racing I had in years! http://www.vdev.fr/vhc_charade_6h.htm
  3. Yeap, just like an old girlfriend, felt so well in it but I never wanted to be seen with her :stupid: :stupid: :stupid:
  4. Glad it turned out fine for you. You had so much fun, it was almost unfair to others, I had to do something to stop you from enjoying yourself so much :tapemouth When your car will be home again, just tighten back those U-joint I have unscrewed Na, I am really sorry about your troubles and I want to thank you for the pictures. I really appreciate your car, and your company. Above all I just love peoples that USE their toy instead of just dusting them off... you really deserve it. See you soon... Fred And if any American would like to come, with or without Z or ZX, We would be glad to help them organise their journey…
  5. Graham is the name, 3rd best in the game! A very nice car, british racing green with at last, what seems to be the right color for the rear pannel, that metalic gray. Lots of Brits where there, Paul's immaculate red twice pack red 280ZX, Mr Big cheese from the Z/ZX club in it's golden 280ZX and one nice 300ZX, also John Wilkins in it's Zgolf convertible ????????? and of course Guus in Legendary 5... who isn't English but from the Z planet.
  6. When it comes to nipples, I am an idiot too, they always slap me in the face after I mess with them, women, tsssss:geek:
  7. It’s been a long time since Europe was a virgin territory! Thanks to Mike, I discovered that this web page, still unexplored as today, give me the opportunity to be the first somewhere! A new feeling for me. I will use this to promote our club and it’s latest accomplishment. Last week-end we had our French meeting, it was in Argenton le Chateau and a lot of friends came from all Europe. We tried to entertain everybody the best we could. The welcome Picnic on Friday night must have been good, if we judge it by the ratio whine/people ! The Z drivers sure use a lot more fuel than their car. Saturday morning was, well it was! And By 11h00 we where all paddling on the Green Venice, our local bayous. Again a nice picnic under the shade of the trees, with non alcoholic beverage!!!! Then a really nice 1h30 convoy back to the camp site and free time for all. We had diner in a real farm, where they produce their own “Foi Gras, that’s Duck liver paté for you) and lot of wonderful food that we enjoyed a lot, this time Rosé and red whine where with us again. On Sunday morning, we all met on a Karting race track, a very nice one, 1,2 km! They are holding the French run for the European kart championship. A one hour race gave to all the chance to “let it go” and a close competition saw a Brit/French team on the first place, followed by a Dutch team and I came in Third with one of my Pal, in all 10 team where on the track. In the afternoon we headed to cool down in a Japanese garden a few miles away, relaxing in a real Jap fashion was all we needed, I had to go back home then but I know that lots of peoples stayed a day more, I leave them the chance to tell you the end of our French Meeting. Hope it’s not too boring, it’s just to let you know how it was, and to let you know that you are all welcome for the next one. And Bravo for all the Z that came from a long way, thank you again. Fred
  8. I was there, I have nothing more to say. I am trying very hard to stop my fingers from typing:tapemouth :tapemouth :tapemouth Maybe I ... :disappoin :disappoin
  9. Like always, the best for me isn't the best for ya ! How do you judge a car ? With a technological point of view I think Honda is giving the most tech for the buck and close BMW. Honda is always looking for new paths and BMW is refining known one beyond perfection. BUT they are plain boring car to use !!!! I had Civic and Accord, my In-law a 730D I have done a lot of Km in them and NOTHING, it's like taking a train... (except that they don't go on strike, and for a French it's priceless ROFL ). But I want more, I want emotions and feelings and I must say that, with more work and sweat, my Alfa 33 was kicker than my brother's Golf and my Banana smile a lot bigger than his, and my 164 was a joy at every moment, it was music and not sound... Today's car have too much GOOD things in them to make them fun, but they are better TOOLS to go from A to B. And by the way, in a racing point of view, and if you think that rallying is the most challenging racing today... Peugeot or Citroën are the best ...
  10. I think that the best car I had was an Alfa 164 V6...
  11. I you shave the head, taking away material, then the total height of your engine will be shorter, right? your camshaft will be lower and your timing chain will slack more putting your timing out of sync... In order to put back your camshaft to the original height, you will need longer cam tower, hard to do ! or you could just put a shim under the cam tower from the same size you took of the head... restoring the right length for the timing chain, voilà ! If only I could speak English...
  12. May I use the stock oil pan from my L28 (F54) on my 240z swap? Will it clear the cross-member or should I use it to fries my freedom potatoes? :stupid: :stupid: Fred
  13. Eric, send it to me, slice it first in say, 25 pieces. This is what I want, can you give me the ref of the mufler, better ref and picts? Salut Fred
