  1. Coming soon for the 69 cars... Hood release and speedometer combo grommet. Machined a new master grommet, which is just a little more beefy since the grommet will need to be cut and glued to fit the speedometer cable. Steve
  2. From the pics, it looks like a good tank to restore. I've brought back tanks that looked like they were salvaged from the Titanic.
  3. Kano's Kroil is the best penetrating oil I have used. Some have used acetone / transmission fluid in a 50 50 mix with good results.
  4. huh... those are almost exactly what i made - but i have just one hole in the middle section of each bracket. i probably could have just bought a pair of those and drilled a couple of new holes. woulda saved me some time... but mine are made from aluminum so i don't have to worry about them rusting ever. that's what i'll tell myself to feel better about re-inventing the wheel. the 78 280 shock mounts are kinda wonky, bolt pattern is on a diagonal and they're not symmetrical each side, so i had to mark the centerline of the bumper middle section and the centerline of the car, then set the bumper height i wanted (dictated by catching the existing mounting holes and allowing the side bumper returns to hide the un-used existing side-return mount holes) and then transfer those locations to the brackets. it was tricky, and i'll admit i didn't get it perfect so had to use a ratstail file to slot the holes until the bumper sat just right. i used rubber washers between the brackets and the bodywork at all locations, and big fender washers to spread the loads and avoid dimpling anything.
  5. I know what I've spent, I'm just trying to ignore it!
  6. I use to keep count of my spend................I quit.
  7. Thanks Chas so much for dig down to find information and post photos. I realized that I made big mistake. I thought I was rebuilding 280zx FS5W71B transmission, but it end up 200sx or 720 truck tranny. Syncro difference btw closer ratio and wider ratio FS5W71B - Drivetrain - HybridZ So, I start rebuilding '77 FS5W71B (wide ratio, early 71B) that I pulled out from Junkyard. I realized that I need right hand thread of mainshaft nut for this tranny after searching web. 5 speed Transmission Nut numbers- Gather Car A&Q So, the mainshaft nut part#32354-E9803, I got, is actually left hand thread. I need right hand thread of main shaftnut, which is part #32354-E9802 or 32354-E9804. I just ordered it at local Nissan dealer and will be there this Saturday.
