$640,000 for a Corvette?!?!

Featured Replies

Just flipping through an auto magazine and I see where a 1967 L-88 vette sold at last years Mecum auction for $640,000. For a Corvette! Of course, this included the buyer's premium paid to the auction company. Am I missing something here.:ermm:

yea they failed to show the pic of the buyer , a napoleonic man that lacks testicular fortitude ROFL , I would think for that much you could get yourself a piece of a chevy dealership:geek:

Some people are willing to pay large amounts of money for things that have no real value. For instance, the guy who paid $3.2 million for Mark McGwire's 70th home run baseball also paid $450,000 for Barry Bond's 73rd. Both are slightly used baseballs worth less than $5 to me (unless of course I turned around and sold them to someone else with no brains).

The 67's are probably the only Vette I would consider owning if I had the money.....

According to this listing on Pro-Teams web-site, most of the 67's are going for around 100K or less... this car either had something very special, or perhaps it was a misspring in the auction listing.

The only reason I could think that would make it worth that much is if it were a GM show car or prototype.:ermm:
