What type of question is that?

I would not dream of changing my 74 260Z from drums, but it is pretty much original....

I do have a fantasy of creating a kick arse 260 from assorted parts where I would include all manner of top shelf goodies, including ventilated discs all round....

At the end of the day you have to decide, do you need the extra performance of rear discs or not.... My guess is if you are talking road use, you do not need rear discs...

Just my 2 cents

cool i havent had the chance to drive it. im still working on it didnt know if drums would hold up. cuz my bro has a 69 elcomino the brakes were drums worked fine except the last time he drove it. thanks for input

The drums are effective in the rear of the Z. You could go to bigger disks, and bigger calipers on the front for increased braking. Gotta remember the El Camino is a land yacht compared to the Z.

yeah how much would cost to change the front discs out like you said

I would only be guessing as I have not done it so best bet is to use the search function. Try looking for "Toyota Calipers" or "4x4 calipers". That will give you some places to look.

Well........uhhhhh.........hmmmmmm

My '72 had originals on it and it worked just fine. That was 10 years ago. Been looking for a couple of years to find another one. Will keep it stock in the front also. However, my Tacoma does have Toyota 4x4 calipersROFL

depends on how these work ill just leave em on there

but you got a tocoma so take them parts put em on your 72 LOL

There is nothing wrong with the rear drums, they work really well.

Upgraded pads for both the discs and the drums will do wonders, if you need more you can always upgrade the front discs.

Either way I dont really see the necessity, less your autoxing or something.

its going to just be a street car so they should be fine.
