after market springs

Featured Replies

Does anyone have the specs on their aftermarket springs???

ie wire dia, number of coils, free length etc????

Front and rear?????

just to compare with other brands..

260z/240z rears(standard):

wire diameter 11.4mm

coil dia 100mm

coils 10.65

free length 381mm

260z fronts(standard):

wire diameter 11.5mm

coil dia 100mm

coils 10.75

free length 394mm

if you wanna get technical, the front driver's spring on the 240z is 1/2" longer than the driver's side :)

I'm putting what I was told were Datsun Euro 240 springs on my 240. I can't tell you much about the fronts as they are already on the car but I have a rear here,

Free lenght 14"

about 9 1/2 coils

wire dia. .460"

part # 55020-E4201

Right ft

9 1/2 coils

.460" wire

part # 55020-E4106

Left Ft

9 1/2 coils

.460" wire

Part # 55020-E4107

They are suppose to lower the car 1" and are a higher rate spring. I guess I'll find out next spring :)

For compairison my old stock springs off the front were 10 coils, .430" wire.

Can you or anybody else tell me if a new set of springs really work ? Is there a significant difference with a new set ? For any of you that have installed new springs...let us hear from you.

I have the Tokiko adjustible struts and springs on my 72 and stock on my 71. DAY AND NIGHT.

Worth every penny.

  • 3 weeks later...

How much lower did the Tokiko struts get? Were they a bolt-in?

How would/do you know if your springs are weak? the back of my 280 is lower than the front.

THe TOKIKO are just bolt in, and with the springs it lowered about 1/2 to 1"

BIG BIG difference!!!
