Inspected by signature

Featured Replies

On the 10k BAT Blue 1972 240Z there's a signature for the inspector on the back of the "OK" decal in the rear quarter window. I've never seen this before, was it standard practice at the Nissan factory and does anyone know when it started and ended?

I don't know about anyone else, but what was left of my originals and my Japan-made repros all have the INSPECTOR space on the inside face. One of my repros was signed by Yasuharu Namba, for fun.

Yes, some early Datsun/Nissan 240Zs have the inspector’s signature on the back of the “OK” decal in the rear quarter window. It was a factory quality control practice, but not all cars got it. It seems to have been common in the early ’70s and phased out later in the decade, though exact start/end dates aren’t well documented.

Late reply to this thread, but have seen full last names signed on the rear quarter window frames, under the weather stripping glue.... on super early cars
