What's your experience with textbook settings for Webers?

Many Z's were fitted with 42DCOE's back in the day due to this book's recommendation:

The carbs were purchased new rather than taken from cars.

Back to topic, are the textbooks' suggested numbers ok? My jetting doesn't entirely line up with the books, nor the stock carb build configuration.

 

Yes, I saw that reference but didn't think it was right for my 3.0L L28.

Books will get you in ball park but you need to test.

I'm working on triple SK racing now on a 240z L24 and they work better with smaller idle and fuel than on a Weber 40DCOE. 45 vs 50 idle and 115 vs 120  main

With my stroker kit it'll never be the smoothest idle, which I like.

I'll use the books as a starting point, once I'm confident in my fueling.
