Gotta love the old roadsters.  My early open sports car experiences were driving MGAs and MGBs.  When I checked out the Datsun offerings, the salesman said,  "Get a 2000.   We only sell 1600s to girls".  At the time, I was in the Air Force and headed overseas, so no sale.  When I got back to the States, no more new roadsters,  that's when I bought my Z.

First post-war  Nissan roadster win in Japan was by a privateer Genichiro TAHARA in 1963. He drove a 1962 Datsun SP310 (1500) :

Nissan USA (Mr K) sponsored the SPL-212  (Datsun 1200) beginning in 1960. Jean Le Plant and Benny Ackermann raced it.

The two race cars above started it all: NISMO, Z's, etc.  They are worth noting!
