71 ignition resistor question

Featured Replies

I see a resistor on the diagram. I don't have one in my car. Do I need one ? What's it for ? ( I know to resist ) Thank you very much. Other end goes to fuse box.

I'd guess that's for your ignition to the coil when the car is running. It's bypassed when cranking to start. If your Z has been converted to electronic ignition then the resistor might not be there. Look next to your coil.

Yes I should know this. I forget. I have a MSD. Thanks.

No need for the ballast resistor without points. I pulled mine off and the engine runs great with a full 12v going to the plugs

Coil.  12 volts to the plugs won't even make a spark.   And with current flowing it won't be 12 volts.  Just saying...

I think he already realized his error though.

Slow day.
