Ignitor 2

Featured Replies

Does anyone have any experience with this electronic points replacement?

I have a 71 240z that I am wanting to replace the points with a electronic system. I have heard about replacement of the tach and distributor with a zx model.

Just curious if anyone has replaced stock ignition system with a electronic system with minimal mods to the the chassis.

I had the Ignitor installed in my 260z. I was not happy.
The tour counter always stuck somewhere. Starting at 4000 rpm the engine stuttered.
I then bought the 123 Ignitor tune+. Available in the Netherlands/Europe.
Its a bit expensive but perfekt.
The engine turns nicely even in high numbers and the tour counter works.
The installation is easy and the ignition can be tuned with blootooth+app.
All you need is the 123 ignitor and a new high-performance ignition coil otherwise no changes.IMG_4755.JPG

Bonsi, did you have any problem with the tach working?

Hey, just to be clear on this, I think that most people use the Ignitor I, not the II.  The II is better than the I, with "adaptive dwell" or current-limiting, but for quite a while Pertronix was unclear on which cars it would fit.

The ZX distributor has current limiting also.  So, tach problems might be similar to ZX distributor swaps.  Some have them some don't.  It's probably a gamble.  There are adapters out there that seem to work for people though, if you do have problems.

Still though...Pertronix quality is not what it was.

I think that he meant with the Ignitor, not the 123.  Hence did.

I had problems with the tach with the ignitor. With 123 the tach works perfect.

My experience exactly, the 123 distributor is a good investment.
