The only possible use for an amplifier like that in 72 would have been to kill the application of the throttle opener device as you came to a stop.

But in order to do that, your throttle opener would have to be the defeat-able style design, and I don't think that even started until the flat top carbs. Does your throttle opener control valve even have a wire going to it?
