I have a Nichira Datsun 240z Exhaust... It is a full unit with a seamless bent pipe. Looks to be in great condition. I was wondering if anyone has any pics of what the full unit is supposed to look like.

 

From what I understand, the later 70's Z's have a Nichira exhaust with the part number last 5 digits being N3300... I'm not sure if this transfers well to the early 01/70 early z's E4100 5 digit suffix.

 

Does anyone have any insight into the original finish/exhaust system for the 01-70 z's?

Hi Keith,

Not sure what you are asking but this is what I have on my 01/71.

My center resonator is 20050 N3000, and the rear muffler is

20100 N3300, all appear to be directly interchangeable to the earlier

E4100 parts. All parts are NOS and I had everything Jet-Hot

coated to match the stock original natural finish. Hope this helps,

Did Jet-Hot apply the black to the tail pipe as part of their coating service?

I have a NOS tip (lower in image) that I would consider installing, however I cannot determine how to remove existing welded on tip (upper in image).

How did you remove your old tip prior to Jet-Hot?

My nos muffler section had a different solid chrome tip, for later style N3300, that was welded onto the 6 1/2” exhaust tubing that extends from the rear of the muffler. So, that tip was removed by grinding the welds, and the new chrome and black tip was spot welded onto that existing 6 1/2” exhaust tubing. There are three spots on the new tip, 2 on the rear of the tip at the 10 and 2 o’clock positions, and 1 on the bottom middle of the tip, where I spot welded the tip on. It’s been so long ago, I’m not sure if I drilled out the old spot welds or just ground them out.

Dan, was the exhaust tip welded before or after the Hot-Jet coating was applied?

1) Muffler

2) Resonator

3) Y-Pipe
