I'm about a 3 hr drive from seattlw. By judging the add I wouldn't waste my time. No title. Says for parts only. Unless he can prove ownership at the dmv (which he should already have) then no one is going to pay 2k just for the police to take it when you try and register it.

you have to do your own homework on this one.

get the vin# and use this free service to see if its stolen

https://www.nicb.org/theft_and_fraud_awareness/vincheck

then check the vehicle history for liens 4.95 for this service

http://www.vehiclehistory.gov/

if the car has calif plates a  person with calif DL can register as a user at this website. You can check the

complete vehicle history here   https://www.dmv.ca.gov/portal/dmv/detail/online/vrr

I wish they had this service when i lived in calif.  2$ fee

This is a great tool to use when researching vehicle history if you want to track down the previous owners of a car

and ask them questions on the car.

if all checks out that could be a very cheap 240

s30 driver did you see the car yet?

Looking at the form mentioned on the DMV web site, it seems that they only release the name of the current registered owner on file, not the complete history back to original owner. Perhaps I'm wrong. Anyone ever use this search option recently?
