the aluminum air batteries need to be changed yearly according to the article.  that could get expensive. notice it gives no

approximate replacement cost.  i love the idea using 2 types of batteries. one a workhorse and the other reserve.

I'm an old school guy so, my opinion on electric cars is pretty low. My I explain..........just imagine attending a race event with electric cars....BORING!!!! To me, half the pleasure of motorsports are the sounds! Enough said alright!!?

I think a lot of people watch just for the crashes, but may not admit it.  There was talk at one time a few years ago of having electric cars make an artificial amplified noise so pedestrians would be aware of them if crossing a street without first looking both ways.  You're correct in noting silent racing wouldn't be as fun for most of us as a spectator sport.  But, I'm sure there are hearing impaired (deaf) individuals who love to go to the races.
