Interior Vinyl Paint / Dye

Did a search and found some have used the SEM white. I'm about to redo my nieghbor's "Butterscoth" color interior, and need to dye / paint new interior panels and refresh the color of the tranny soft vinyl.

Neither SEM or Colorbond make a color that is close. I plan to contact Colorbond & SEM about the cost for a custom color match. However, I found this manufacturer that will match colors.

Price isn't bad at $99/quart. That would easily do all the interior panels and have a pint to spare for matching dis-colored soft vinyl and have left over for touch-ups. They also will do custom aerosol cans.

Anyone have experience with this product?

I just bought some spray cans of butterscotch plastic dye from Les at Classic Datsun. I don't know if if it will work on the vinyl but I bought it for the plastic panels. This is the official color that was used on the refurb 240z a few years ago. Not quite $30 a can. Havent used it yet but am excited. You should contact him.

I would also read the SEM instructions as they are very helpful in determining what kind of plastic it is and what prep you should do. I used the SEM on my whole interior, but there were a couple of different plastics used, and the standard acetone type prep didn't work on those pieces, the dye wouldn't impregnate like it did in the others. There is a different spray on prep that works with the other type of plastic. You can download the PDF's on east wood's website. I'm sure the prep procedure would be common among many brands of dye.
