I mounted mine in behind the washer bottle under the driver's side inspection door. I don't have a picture but I've mounted it there on two different Z's with great results. You have to look carefully to even see it with the hood up.

As far away from heat as possible and use the rubber legs.

The 6a does not come with rubber legs but you can get them from Mcmaster Carr. Tucked up behind the washer bottle is about as cool a place as you will get without mounting in the cabin.

Inside the car, underneath the dash. Attached to the heater fan with a fabricated mount. Sorry, no pics at this time. I see you're in Stockton though. The fabricated mount was whipped up really quickly and inexpensively by a shop here in Rancho Cordova. GT Auto, Gary Cook is one of the owners and he is a member here and owns a BRE replica that is pretty much spot on...
