i've got a FS5W71C from a z31 on-turbo, problem is the bell housing wont fit my L28.

I understand i will need the l28 bell housing, but will i need to machine any new clearances for the bearings? Or should i just sell this thing and get a 280zx transmission?

(if anyone wants this thing its 100$ + shipping, it has 60k miles)

V6 and I6 require different BHs. Take the easy and cheapest route and get the ZX tranny. A lot fewer headaches.

Just a suggestion I read a while back Austin Hoke makes an adaptor plate to mount the 300zx tranny to the L28. austin.hoke@vq240z.com thats his email and you can always contact him to see if he still has it available.

Does Z31 have Borg Warner Trans? If so you have to mess with different trans mount, drive shaft, clutch slave and so on.

I would get 280ZX trans(Non turbo) 1979-1980 trans: wide ratio 1981-1983 non turbo is close ratio. 1982-83 Turbo: Borg Warner(not recommended, because parts are not really available and you have to modify cross memebr and drive shaft)
